I can only assume his hero is Hideo Kojima. -"Hey Hideo, did you hear that Jake Roberts ended up in the hospital last week?" -"Snake? SNAAAAAAAAKE!!"

This is exactly what I did out loud. The crowd that moaned was the inner me reacting. He'll be fine, but I'm disappointed. The people are just going to chant "Kenta" anyway....

It was said that Hero is the one that came up with Kassius Ohno so yeah... He came up with Kassius Ohno BECAUSE WWE wouldn't let him just be Chris Hero. Why can't WWE just call the wrestlers the name they've always been known as. In a perfect world, Daniel Bryan would still go by Bryan Danielson. Agreed, and it comes off incredibly selfish on the WWE's part. I get it, they want to own the name and intellectual property. However, it screws the talent because the talent can't use the name anywhere else, and if they get stuck with a stupid name, it will follow them around forever. If they are independent contractors, then they should own their name and be able to use it at free will. I mean, does the WWE get hurt when CM Punk uses his name (which he owns) elsewhere? No. There is no WCW for Punk to jump to, and if he uses that name in public non-wrestling appearances, it doesn't mean much of anything. It's not even about getting used to a new name. It's about empowering the talent. They are so powerless in the WWE, it's sad.

It should be "Kept you waiting.. huh?" instead of "keptyouwaitinghuh?" Oh, well. Anyways, KENTA should be dubbed by David Hayter. This way, we get over the language barrier.

It would be a great name for the MC in Persona 5.
It's not so great for the wrestler formerly known as KENTA, generally speaking if you're going to change then the new name should be more chantable than the old one or it won't work.

Daniel Bryan works because it's simple and doesn't seem as weird as some FCW names.
As for Hideo Itami being less "Chantable" than Kenta... that might be true, but just "Itami" in it's own will probably be the chant if he gets people chanting his WWE name. Plus that means a bunch if people chanting "pain" which is metal as f***.

I can't wait for him to feud with Cena.
Cena overcomes the oddz by plugging the controller in port 2.

I would have preferred something simple and recognizable like "Akira". Only if he got to tag with someone called Kanedaaaaaaaaa.

Okay name I guess.
As for people still calling him Kenta, I'm sure it'll be like just about every single other time people change names when they join. People call them their old name for a few months, then get used to the new one, then the old one is forgotten.

See Punk, C.M. C'mon man you know why they won't let wrestler's keep their original names. They are protecting the rights to a character while on WWE Programming. I know why. But I don't think it's right. I wanted to see "KENTA" in WWE. And now I'm disappointed in what Steen, Devitt, and Willie Mack are going to be called down the line. I hate when established guys have to be called "Barclay Pinkerton" or some BS like that. If WWe HAS to do this, they could at least give these guys a name close to their well established Indy name. I have the same issue with WWE originals that build a following under a certain name and end up getting cut. They are most known as <insert name here> and not allowing them to use the name they're most known as affects their ability to find work on the indies (at least in a promotion a decent amount of people actually knows exists). I wish WWE would stop doing this. It wouldn't make any sense for CBS to let Eric Braeden go to Days of our Lives and continue to play Victor Newman would it? One of the reasons WCW had so much success was because they had guys with gimmicks and names that were made into stars in the WWF. It only makes sense for WWE to say if you're gonna leave and compete against us you're going to do it with a different name and gimmick. It'll be fine. Within six months we start calling these guys by their WWE names anyway. It's not like we've got a bunch of people here saying Danielson, Black, Moxley, etc

So how long before he goes by last name? Goodness knows we can't be bothered to keep track of first names of recent international wrestlers.

Maybe his name is a tribute to cinematographer Hideo Fujii known for The Adventures of Milo and Otis: Maybe Vince was watching an old copy and saw his name in the credits and decided, "yeah let's go with that!" Kenta is Milo, goes around taking out everyone in the locker room, only to get tapped out by William Regal, who's the crab.

Big hubbub about a new name. Like Sami Zayn, Adrian Neville, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Daniel Bryan before him.
He'll be fine. Nobody will care in a month or so.
