It's just like, they had a whole package dedicated to "KENTA" literally moments before he changed his name. They made an entrance graphic with "KENTA" on it. They kept talking about how awesome "KENTA" is. Then he's like, "nah, here's my new name guys."
If "Itami" does mean "Pain", then they should have just given him the single name, like "Cesaro". I have a feeling they'll do that soon anyway.

Through someone at the tapings tonight, I found out his finisher... {Spoiler}{Spoiler}Double foot stomp. I foresee a certain 'Prince' having some problems with that. Could be fun, very fun!

Itami would have been a good name
"I was known as KENTA in Japan, but here, my name will be ITAMI which means PAIN, and Ill bring lots of PAIN" or some shit like that

They were really smart about how they did this. It came across like it was his idea by having him outright saying that it's a fresh start for him, and a new name reflects that.
My biggest issue was him punking out The Ascention single handedly.

This thread is a classic example of someone just looking for something to complain about. We all know why there are name changes when someone is signed. Yeah, some are silly or make no sense, but this one...didn't someone say that it translates to 'pain'? That makes sense. So pretty please, let's just watch him kick some ass in NXT and wait for his eventual rise to the main roster.

By the way, I'm hearing that the "Hideo" part has to do with Captain New Japan's real name (or at least one of his former ring names). That's really just consensus speculation from Japanese friends, haven't really looked it up myself.

Hideo Itami sounds like an old video game console.

Hideo Itami could be chanted the same way as Inoki's theme song.
