So, just curious, what was going through the minds of everyone in the ring as the crowd was giving less than a shit about the two guys being put over as the pinnacle players in the industry?

From left to right.
Mark thought his pink suit was an amusing joke about white people given that formal events are usually 'black tie' or something. Stephanie was thinking about cakes. Booker's thought process was, as always, absolute garbage, but featured something along the lines of 'shuck ducky quack quack with the GREATEST OF EASE fave five black snow, etc.' Bret was wondering if he ever got a boner watching Stephanie. Cena was wishing he'd worn a bow tie, because then he WOULD have been formal. Shawn felt lucky to be the only guy in the ring who could look at both belts at once. Randy was forcing Cena to maintain eye contact and decide for himself whether he was wearing his trunks under his t-shirt. Triple H was wondering whether Bret ever got a boner watching Stephanie. Punk was wondering to himself what this 'shower' thing was and where he could buy one since Triple H had asked him earlier that day if he'd ever had one in his god forsaken life.
None of those were as funny as I'd hoped, but I'm bored.

I imagine Punk thinking, "I can't wait to get out of this shithole."

I was in the crowd for this and it was a blast. Don't trot our hometown hero out there and expect us to care about John Cena. The best part was the smile that never left Bryan's face, and Punk and Ziggler laughing the entire time.

HHH and Stephanie were probably wishing the crowd would shut up. Cena & Orton were probably wishing the crowd cared about them Punk was probably happy, jealous and pissed at the same time Everyone else was laughing inside except Daniel Bryan who was laughing on the outside.

I imagine Punk thinking, "I can't wait to get out of this shithole." that is probably accurate.

Wasn't this supposed to be the last time they fought or something? I can't remember.
But yeah, that was a great moment in WWE TV made great by a crowd basically saying "f*** you" to their shitty narrative.

Bret is making a similar face to that time he was on a panel talking about The Rock vs John Cena. 3.5/10

It was a lame segment, but I do remember Cena saving it with a great promo. But obviously its more remembered for the Bryan stuff, as it should be.

The people in the ring weren't surprised
The only person who was surprised at the reaction was Vince McMahon sitting backstage bewildered at why the fans were cheering for Daniel Bryan since they had been told he was a goat-faced B+ troll.

We don't need to wonder what Punk was thinking, because I think this says it all:

Dunn: "I told you we should have had the faces say it instead of the heels! That way the fans actually listen to them!" Vince: "But, but... Triple H and Stephanie... I thought we'd put the fear of God into the fans with those two..."

What was up with Cena standing with Triple H and Stephanie at the end of the segment? I thought that was gonna go somewhere...but I don't think it was ever mentioned again, forever placed in the vault with moments like the end of million dollar mania, or the time Triple H helped Punk retain the title against Cena.
