We don't need to wonder what Punk was thinking, because I think this says it all: Like him or hate him, Punk killed at segments like these. I miss the bastard for just that alone.

Ditto for Triple H pedigreeing Orton only for it to be immediately forgotten. It's pretty funny/sad that Orton has been the Authority "golden boy" for over a year yet they lost faith in him and began resenting him almost immediately. I felt they kind of had to tease dissension between the Authority and Orton. Teasing the possibility that Triple H and Stephanie would grow tired of Orton and screw him over was the only way faces like Bryan, Cena or whoever would have a realistic chance at winning the title.

Wasn't this supposed to be the last time they fought or something? I can't remember. I don't know but I do remember Cole saying multiple times how it's the "BIGGEST REMATCH OF ALL TIME!!"

I remember Swagger looking so out of place by dressing up like a bum, looking stoned, being in the far right corner, and well acknowledging Swagger is a former world champion.

We don't need to wonder what Punk was thinking, because I think this says it all: I love everything about this gif. Obviously Punk's "seriously" face and facepalming. The ref being like "Uhh... Sure." Ziggler turning his head and being like "Oh c'mon!" Foley being like "Of course Hunter would do that. Triple H's smug look like "Yup, you tell them Steph!" Del Rio looking bored. Steph looking so proud,

Good promos from both guys but unfortunately it was the wrong time for them to do it.

I wonder why if they were afraid of bryan they didn't decided to write him off before this segment? Bryan not being there would not simmer down the crowd. In it would just make the whole thing worse.

Good promos from both guys but unfortunately it was the wrong time for them to do it. Personally I think the unification match shouldn't have been Cena/Orton.

I wonder why if they were afraid of bryan they didn't decided to write him off before this segment? Because I think it was all a work. I've always thought Bryan in the mania main event was always the plan. They spent the whole of August until March building him up for it. I know the WWE may seem out of touch and dumb, but they're not stupid enough to stick the already immensely over Bryan in the background segment in his (de facto) home town and not expect Yes chants. Especially when people had been doing his chantin segments he wasn't even involved in for months. It's a possibility, but I think the shirts that were available just before Mania- 'Orton v Batista' are proof that they had no intention of putting DB in the main event

People asking why Bryan wasn't there? Because the segment ends with an incredible brawl with highlight both Bryan and Punk as anti-Authority.
The first two thirds of the segments make you so angry as a fan that they are giving us Cena vs Orton AGAIN and ignoring Bryan and Punk. The final third vindicates it all and makes you think that maybe things might just be okay for the guys you like after all.
Amazing segment, it is almost like Vince booked the first two thirds and HHH then came up with the crazy brawl at the end.

That segment is one of my favorite endings to RAW. Me too. The crowd was popping and the segment had a feel of genuine chaos.

I suppose so, but it's been going on for so long now it kind of makes Orton look like he has no self respect.

I still don't think they'd have deliberately damaged things as important as a title unification and the Royal Rumble just to further a temporary angle.

Wasn't this supposed to be the last time they fought or something? I can't remember. But yeah, that was a great moment in WWE TV made great by a crowd basically saying "f*** you" to their shitty narrative. Considering the package that set up the match at TLC was "Here's a list of some champions we threw in for the hell of it", I'm surprised people actually gave a damn about it.

I'm absolutely in the minority here but I hate that gif of Punk laughing. I hate that he thinks he's above sticking to kayfabe on the scripted show and that he's allowed to blatantly laugh on-camera like that
