Karl "Mailman" Malone's son plays in the NFL and has never supported him and was a prick when the kid finally contacted him. Plenty of rumors in North Louisiana that he has a few like that. source: espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=hill/080507JFK and MLK both have some interesting pasts but their faults very rarely get mentioned and are both widely quoted and widely respected historical figures. Of course plenty of well respected historical figures have less than stellar pasts that rarely get mentioned. Karl Malone also had sex with a 13 year old as a freshmen in college

Roman Polanski is a child rapist who fled the US before being punished for his crime, who still manages to get A-list talent to work with him, and even sign a petition supporting him.

Morgan Freeman's statuatory rape of his step granddaughter. I hadn't heard anything about that...? But I did think...wasn't he found to be cheating on his wife a while back, as the side result of a car crash? Am I getting mixed up here?

I guess the whole Stone Cold hitting Debra thing.
Also to some fans online, it doesn't matter what Benoit did.

R Kelly would probably pee on this thread and everyone in it if he could, and the masses would still love him. Oh yeah, this thread's only 11 hours old, so it's still really young...meaning...it's right up his alley.

She said that she wants it done and doesn't want to press charges anymore because it's passed her now. ASide from Polanski there... -Mother Teresa basically let people die because she believed the poor should die in some sensemble -Gandhi made the women of his followers (and some very young relatives) sleep in the nude with him and him only -Edison was a thieving prick -R Kelly also basically preys on teenage girls, ala his marriage with Aaliyah

Justin Timberlake got away unscathed from nipplegate while Janet Jackson was never the same.
I didn't think that was horrible per se but others obviously did.
edit: Is Chris Brown still popular? That goes without saying.

Sean Penn laid a beating on his wife but all you ever hear is about what a great social advocate and actor he is. When you don't hear what a pretentious, humorless prick he is, TBF. Would Johnny Depp count here too?

John Lennon has admitted to beating his wife on several occasions. If it was Yoko, I guess some people would say they excused him.

Would Johnny Depp count here too? What did Depp do wrong other than past issues with drugs? Never heard of him abusing another person or anything like that.

What I mean is celebrities who have a really good public image even though they've done some things that clearly weren't good. What made me think of this thread was Buck Zumhofe got mentioned in one of my other threads. It made me remember that Colt Cabana (who is LOVED by plenty of the IWC) featured and promoted Zumhofe on AOW well after allegations of his sexual misconduct came out. Not the best example and calling Cabana a celeb is probably debatable even, but that got me thinking of this. I wish the PYT (Norvell Austin and Koko Ware) would smash Zumhofe's radio over and over and over and over as eternal punishment for his crimes.

Not to completely sidetrack the discussion, but for some celebrities and dignitaries, does one bad thing outweigh dozens of good things?
For example, Mother Theresa and Mahatma Gandhi have already been referenced for doing some bad things in their lives, but are those negatives more significant than the countless good they did for the world?
On a much, much, MUCH less grand scale than those two, it's like Lance Armstrong. Yes, he's a doper and a liar, but the guy's Livestrong Foundation has also raised more than $500 million in the fight against cancer. Sometimes, you have to wonder whether being a liar and having your Tour de France victories vacated is more important than the half-billion dollars raised to battle cancer.
