What I mean is celebrities who have a really good public image even though they've done some things that clearly weren't good.
What made me think of this thread was Buck Zumhofe got mentioned in one of my other threads. It made me remember that Colt Cabana (who is LOVED by plenty of the IWC) featured and promoted Zumhofe on AOW well after allegations of his sexual misconduct came out. Not the best example and calling Cabana a celeb is probably debatable even, but that got me thinking of this.

Rick James basically held a woman hostage and raped her for six days (among many other things he did while on cocaine). Yet he's a Dave Chappelle punchline/meme nowadays.

Chuck Berry is delightfully guilty of helping pioneer early rock and roll and not so delightfully guilty of illegally videotaping women in restrooms.

Sean Penn laid a beating on his wife but all you ever hear is about what a great social advocate and actor he is.

R Kelly would probably pee on this thread and everyone in it if he could, and the masses would still love him.

Tom Jones cheated on his wife continuously and one affair lead to a pregnancy. Jones denied that the child was his, even after proven in court, and though he eventually admitted it was his son, he doesn't want anything to do with him.

I remember watching his Behind the Music episode and all I remember hearing was that he burnt her a few times with a pipe.

But some articles I've read say he was charged with sexual assault and torture. articles.latimes.com/1991-08-25/local/me-2000_1_torture

He wasn't the interview subject, but was featured. It even got discussed on a previous FAN thread. After digging around some here's that thread: officialfan.proboards.com/thread/493846/verdict-buck-zumhofe-case

I thought that that was someone misremembering George South as Buck Zumhofe because they had both done shoots for Highspots around that time.

IDK in that thread it doesn't mention there being a mix up (at least I don't think it does, I just glanced over). Also, I distinctly recall an early episode of AOW where Colt talks about working at the same show/event Zumhofe was on and getting to chat with him. Since Zumhofe was not the main interview it's pretty tough to find more information about it beyond that. Maybe you can find it? I think the year was either 2011 or 2012, but I could be wrong.

Dr. Dre beat the shit out of a woman.
Laura Bush ran a stop sign and killed a guy.
Matthew Broderick killed a guy in Northern Ireland by driving on the wrong side of the road.
JR Smith ran a red light, got into an accident that killed his passenger and he fled the scene.
Charlie Sheen shot Kelly Preston.

Karl "Mailman" Malone's son plays in the NFL and has never supported him and was a prick when the kid finally contacted him. Plenty of rumors in North Louisiana that he has a few like that. source: espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=hill/080507JFK and MLK both have some interesting pasts but their faults very rarely get mentioned and are both widely quoted and widely respected historical figures. Of course plenty of well respected historical figures have less than stellar pasts that rarely get mentioned.

Charlie Sheen shot Kelly Preston. He didn't tho. The gun discharged when she was picking up his pants off the floor.
