We'll all laugh about this in a couple of years when Roman, Ambrose and Cena form a super heel group in TNA.

For reals I wasn't even watching when he became the man. But my understanding is that he was at least over when he won the damn title. But with Reigns, why? Do kids even like him? Does he sell a lot of merch? How many wishes has he granted? There's all these great business reasons with Cena, with Reigns there's...well? He's the Rock's cousin, he has a good look but he has potential, that's it. The problem is that they thought Reigns could be like Rock, you know, a guy who could rise to the occasion out of nowhere but he's not, Rock's special. It didn't work out. Roman's the reverse Rock. Goes from being really cool in a stable of guys all wearing black to booed because of being pushed too much and having a false babyface persona.

Something that bugs me. Does WWE not get that the fans KNOW it's scripted? That's the only way I can explain Reigns/Bryan. The dude is getting **** on by every televised crowd. You don't make those boos stop by having him beat the guy those booing fans LIKE. It's not like in a real sport where defeating a credible opponent means you're better than them. These fans are booing the *storyline*. They don't hate Roman. In fact, they like Roman a lot more than some of the other guys in the back. It's just that they hate this idea that he's the BEST. Jesus H. Christ, WWE, you had a dude who came right out and explained this ON THE AIR. If we are going to start quoting the Punk shoot, the line to pay attention to would be the one about the imaginary brass rings. Just think, that was three years before the podcast with Vince, and yet Vince still thought he could use it to motivate the roster and not become a punchline after that podcast, and that's even before he hands the "brass ring" to Reigns on a silver platter.

The Reigns push is going to fail and going to eventually see him get shot down the card, just the question is when. My guess, around Survivor Series. And really, the only ways I can see to potentially salvage him at this point are have him turn heel by aligning with Heyman at Mania, have him lose and then start building up a redemption arc, and have him lose leading to Rollins cashing in on Lesnar then Reigns goes apeshit and beats Rollins half to death setting up a double-turn. Even then I don't actually know if any of those'd work because WWE's just made Reigns a completely toxic act no one wants anything to do with. If they did have him lose and start having to build himself back up it might create some sympathy but it'd also probably be just as likely to make people change the channel or keep on booing. Actually I would do something similar with the Rollins/Reigns double turn, but a little differently. Have Reigns win he belt, which of course will be crapped on by the crowd. Then Rollins comes out to cash in, which will get cheered, and right afterwards the Authority comes out and turns on Rollins, thus making Reigns their "chosen one" and an official heel. Rollins, already cheered by a good portion of the crowd, should have no problem playing the face. But other than turning Reigns heel or just losing the match, I can't see it working.

The worst part about this whole thing is the Shield aspect. Meltzer from WON said that the Shield was made to get Reigns over. Since the beginning, it was always going to be used as a launching pad for Reigns. The Shield surpassed expectations however and because of that, this super push was brought up. Rollins and Ambrose will never get any major credit in the future for The Shield because when it's all said and done in their eyes and given how the company is booking Reigns to be "The Shield" with his gimmick, it's apparently all Reigns. I hate that because those 2 put it major work for that stable, it was all 3 of them. It's sad.

The fact that Reigns had this badass look and no actual substance meant that someone had to along the ride with him. If it wasn't for that, Rollins and Ambrose may have fell by the wayside, or at least had their ascent delayed until the Network allowed for NXT to get exposure (which then might have prevented the current prevented guys like Owens and Balor from having prime spots in the current NXT).

If they want to make Roman Reigns the face of the company, then he is eventually going to have to attend press conferences, red carpets, talk show interviews etc and i just dont see Reigns feeling natural at any of them

After actually having to listen to people last year, Vince is in full on "I'M BEAUTIFUL NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAAAAY" mode right now. I wouldn't count on it stopping. This post had me laughing so hard I couldn't respond last night.

But still, just being good at that didn't save, say, Miz, and he has a lot more going for him at this point in time than Reigns does.

WWE is in big trouble since apparently these fools thought Reigns was unquestionably the future of the entire company. It is actually worse than Nash circa 1995 since Nash's push didn't really come at anyone's expense really. They never really jobbed Bret to him (which ironically is something that probably hurt Nash in getting over), did job HBK only to turn Shawn face the very next night and get him even hotter as a character. After that it was just bad feuds with Sid, Mabel, and a heatless heel Bulldog before finally dropping the title to Bret. In the case of Diesel, it felt like a random rushed push and he didn't go over many top opponents. In the case of Reigns, it feels like a forced push because they are so readily jobbing people out to him.
