Were you living under a rock since John Cenas been around? In fairness, Cena was hot in 2005. He got the title at the right time. The problem was he feuded with IWC darlings like Angle, Jericho and Christian once he got to RAW, which sorta hurt him. Plus, Y2Cheap. Ugh. That was his sufferin' succotash moment. |

They might just be resign to making him heel after mania so they don't feel like trying to build him up as face is a worthwhile investment.

I think they need to have heyman turn on brock and help him win at mania. He needs a heel run and for the fans to turn him face like they did with Orton.

What I find odd though is they seem to be doing their darnest now to downplay Cena in their bid to prop of Reigns, between both Stephanie and Heyman ripping into him. |

A few minutes ago I dropped my brother off home from work and I was telling him all about this pushing Reigns thing, even the ending of Raw. We were laughing so hard tears were rolling from our eyes. I don't know how much they have to put in the effort to push this man. They've limited his promos to no avail shit even made him do interviews in the back, tried to have him beat Bryan for respect, put in cheers over the loud speakers while muting the audience, do all this crap, I don't even know they've done everything in the book. He's gone from the big tough massive powerhouse to the guy who says he can do anything he sets his mind to and then to the guy who's actually gotten beaten in matches. They've even had him go against hated heels to no avail, shit even put Rock with him and nothing works.
It's done for Reigns as the big bad face right now.
He's going to be forced to go heel and be heel a good while until he can turn face again and give it another round. He doesn't sell merch, crowd's not digging him, even the biggest heels in the company are cheered more than him, it's just not working.
He's done.

We always hear from former wrestlers/agents/personnel that Vince can be stubborn. This has potential to be a textbook example of such. And it's a damn shame for Roman. He would be so much better off in Seth's spot as a company guy who eventually gets sick of the Authority and when he turns face, it would have been a big moment. |

Also at the time there was a brand split and the other young guys billed as the future of the company were Batista, Orton, and maybe Edge. Reigns doesn't have a brand split and there is Daniel Bryan, Ziggler, and Ambrose as more universally liked babyfaces from the crowd. Also in ring talent is more important then it is now and since WWE embraced social media, the IWC is a way bigger fanbase now then it was 10 years ago. Those night after mania crowds could of never existed ten years ago |

Only thing they share in common is the WWE's need to constantly make them look stronger than any and everyone. |

I'm one of the biggest anti-Cena types you can find, but Cena is charismatic (and has been since his early days as the heel rap guy) and he at least has the ability to cut a promo -- Cena also had very discernible personalities from his Thuganomics days all the way up to his first title win. He also had the luxury of going up against a really strong heel in JBL when he won his first big title. Reigns has some charisma, but I think he needs a manager to really make it anything meaningful until he learns how to act, even just a little bit. Reigns on the microphone is Matt Hardy bad at the moment. They're throwing him to the wolves right now and its not taking. The majority of crowds are booing the babyface leading up to his first main event title match at Mania. Cena was very over in the lead up to his first Mania main. |

Were you living under a rock since John Cenas been around? For reals I wasn't even watching when he became the man. But my understanding is that he was at least over when he won the damn title. But with Reigns, why? Do kids even like him? Does he sell a lot of merch? How many wishes has he granted? There's all these great business reasons with Cena, with Reigns there's...well? |
