I saw it and enjoyed it as well. I won't go into any spoilers, but it did a great job of tying into the main storyline, as well as telling its own unique story. If anyone is still complaining about a lack of a crawl, there was honestly no need for it. The prologue set everything up nicely. Sure, there was a bit of fan service here and there, but most of it had a purpose. The CGI was pretty noticeable in certain areas, but there was no way to use any practical effects for those scenes. All in all, while I enjoyed TFA a bit more in the theater, I'd still say it was a good film. If I had the time, I'd watch ANH again right now just to tie it all in. I'll eventually do that though.

Star Wars: Rogue One (I am not going to type out the actual title) was a damned fine film. Not just a good movie, but a good film, in a way other Star Wars aren't. It manages to be the saddest and the funniest Star Wars film to date. While it looks, sounds, and feels like SW, it is crafted well enough that with a few changes it could be a World War 2 French Resistance film. In fact it is short very much like Band of Brothers or Saving Private Ryan.
My only two complaints: It could have used another ten minutes, 5 to flesh out Bohdi's quest and 5 in the final battle so we could see more At-AT action (though my bladder was very glad it ended when it did.) The other drawback was Tarkin, oh holy night terrors. He looked like Supreme Leader Snoke and not in that "oh they could be the same character" way, no it was in the "well, that looks real in a way that makes me entirely ooky.
Alan Tudyk killed it. Donnie Yen had the best joke in SW history (just so damned happy seeing him in a big budget flick). Scarif was one of the coolest planets ever and felt ripped out of KOTOR.
Great movie, probably my second favorite overall. Rankings: 1.Empire 2. Rogue 3. Jedi 4. New Hope 5. Force Awakens 6. Attack of the Clones 7.Sith 8. Jar Jar's Crappy Funtime hour.
Jedi, Hope, Force, and Clones can hop around based on mood.

Wow, just wow.
Remember early this year the news that they had to shoot new scenes cause Disney thought it was too dark? Ummm well you could see why they would want to that.. Cause this is by far the darkest Star Wars has gotten. Yes even darker then ... that second Ewoks movie where the little girls family was wiped out at the start.
Great film BTW.. Rogue One, not the second Ewok movie.

I'd drop everything and go see the movie tonight if he were still in, just for the collective groan that'd come from a bunch of hyped Star Wars fans seeing the thing first chance seeing him on the screen. Just because you don't care about this movie, it doesn't mean all the fans need to be miserable. If a single scene cameo would make someone miserable about a movie they've got bigger problems. I just think that'd be a funny moment. By all means I hope people actually enjoy it on the whole, just think that'd be a good laugh.

Great film BTW.. Rogue One, not the second Ewok movie. I dunno, there's always something to be said for a Star Wars film featuring a surly Wilford Brimley yelling at a child and giving rapey eyes to a weird alien rabbit thing.

Saw Rogue One yesterday and overall I thought it was very good. As a Star wars Film it certainly feels different to the normal saga and is certainly darker. Enjoyed all the new characters especially K-2SO. Minor bits I didn't like: {Spoiler}1. There is a lot of jumping around to various different planets at the start and I was thinking I wasn't going to be able to follow all this new information. 2. The mind reading slimy beasts tentacles used on the pilot didn't look that good. 3. The AT-ATs durability won't feel quite as impressive as it used to be. Parts I thought were awesome: {Spoiler}1. Vader is amazing, from his interaction with Krennic to his scene at the end where he was so close to getting the plans! 2. Tarkin is used a lot and is really good, I like the political maneuvering he is shown doing here with Krennic. 3. Battle of Scarif is brilliant, especially the hammer plan. 4. I love that the Death Star laser has levels of power it can use. Other thoughts: {Spoiler}1. As nice as it is to see Cornelius Evazan & Ponda Baba (the two guys Luke and Obi-Wan have an altercation with in Mos Eisley) appear in the market. I was left wondering how they got out of the city so quickly as the city was obliterated not too long after. 2. Anakin became Darth Vader thanks to in part to a lot of lava burning him. I find it amusing he would want his own home fortress to be on a planet covered in lava. Mind you it looked amazing!

One thing I noticed. A bit in the trailer not in the final movie. I think it supposed to happen near the end so I will put it in the spoiler tab: {Spoiler}While Jyn is up on the tower, as she is running to a console a Tie Fighter flies up in front of her in a pretty cool visual. I wonder why they cut it.

I've come here for sympathy
I went to see Rogue One last night and was really enjoying but an hour in I felt really sick and barely made it to the bathroom, I returned to the screening hoping I'd feel better, then another 10 minutes later felt like I'd be sick again and only made it to outside the screen, I decided the best thing to do as I didn't feel better was sit it out.
I only want sympathy because I was really looking forward to it

I thought we were getting too much at once. 2: I'm indifferent 3: Just tell yourself they're upgraded by the time they get to Hoth.

I thought that about the AT-ATs too, but then I got wondering about why they looked different. Well, it was because they were AT-ACTs. Which are larger versions with cargo bays that are less protected as they are made mostly for transport, that is why they had the big gold side panels, they were doors, between them was just hollow space for carrying stuff. So yeah, totally fine.

Some more random thoughts about the film . . . {Spoiler}1. I went to first possible showing and theater was only half full. Last year for The Force Awakens at same showing there was barely a place to sit.
2. Glad they kept the "Long time ago" opening.
3. Ponda Baba (Walrusman) and Dr. Evazan cameo was cool but at the same time a bit corny. It got no reaction from the crowd.
4. Rebel who said, "I got this" only to be immediately killed got the biggest laugh.
5. I thought the 3PO/R2 cameo was a bit hammy. Should have just showed their physical reaction to the ships taking off instead of 3PO complaining for no reason.
6. I liked the Gold Leader cameo even if you could tell it was archive footage. Were any of the other Rebel pilots people from the original? I thought one kind of looked like Biggs.
7. I loved that Tarkin was in it was much as he was. Though he sounded perfect and looked about as real as possible. My girlfriend said it looked fake but she had to ask me if it was a real person. If you have to ask then it must have looked pretty damn good.
8.Saw Gerrera's men towards the end suddenly having names and important scenes was a bit weird to me. Felt like there should have been a scene of the two groups (and us) getting to know them first.

One other minor interesting note. {Spoiler}Notice in the film that Red 5 was shot down, leaving an opening for Luke.

Another thing: {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}No Admiral Ackbar. Thought he would have a cameo. Maybe out of respect for Eric Bauersfeld they decided not to use him. There are other Mon Calamari Rebels. It's not on screen but I guess they buy the farm when Vader captures their command ship.

Have to wait until Tuesday to see this, but there's a good chance I'll get laid, after, so it's worth waiting.

About to head off to the theater now. I'm actually more excited for this then TFA. Mostly because tge Battlefront games are my favorite SW games ever and this might be the closest I get to a Battlefront type movie.

Although {Spoiler}You know now after seeing this. Why didn't the Empire just do a Reactor One on where the Escape Pod landed on Tatooine in A New Hope. We know the Empire are not above wiping out civilizations to cover their tracks.

You can only destroy so many planets before someone notices there's a space station floating around in space. Notice that line from Tarkin about only wanting to make a statement.

I caught the first show 7 p.m. Thursday and I went again 9:30 p.m. Friday.
The first time around, my previews: Pirates of the Caribbean The Space Between Us Assassin's Creed Lego Batman
The second time: Pirates of the Caribbean Power Rangers Logan Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Wonder Woman The Mummy Spiderman Transformers
I gotta say, I have no plans to watch Power Rangers. But it looks like a decent film that deviates from the original product and could be a good action film for children.
