That could mean they had no intention of using it, or she knows she will be OK (it's being piloted by one of the good guys), or and I hope it's this the scene was to end with Jyn casual lifting her blaster and kills the Tie pilot with one shot.

{Spoiler}Also, did anyone catch the message on the Yavin base calling for "General Syndulla"? Guess one member of the Ghost crew makes it to the original trilogy's timeline.

I went into this movie only because my boyfriend really wanted to see it. I hated The Force Awakens, and had low expectations...
And I thought Rogue One was awesome.
Good characters, fantastic action, fun cameos, and while the movies obviously have tons of allusions to A New Hope, it has an identity of its own, telling a gritty, bittersweet story of a group of different individuals all rising to the occasion in order to fight for a cause bigger than themselves. My only complaint is that the transitions between different locations occasionally felt a little abrupt (wait, why are they going there again? Wait, what's this planet called again?). But overall, solid.

For the next time you watch the beginning of A New Hope {Spoiler} Vader: You are a rebel spy and a traitor
Leia: We are on a diplomatic mission from Aldaraan
Vader: Bullshit! I just saw you escaping after I wiped out your soldiers!
Realistically, we have no clue how much time passed between films, and likely the Rebels and senate own multiple Blockade Runners. But still. :-P

Gareth Edwards said it ends 10 minutes before A New Hope begins.

Gareth Edwards said it ends 10 minutes before A New Hope begins. Gotcha. I'm watching ANH right now. It just isn't the same after watching Rogue One.

{Spoiler}So what's the deal with the Death Troopers. Are they even human? Their voices seemed much more distorted then that of a regular Stormtrooper to the point that it didn't even sound to me like they were speaking English.

According to the director they're the Star Wars universe's equivalent of Navy SEALs.

Interesting news article. Now since it's topic is a spoiler even the web link has a spoiler it's in the tab: {Spoiler}http://www.slashfilm.com/felicity-jones-rogue-one-sequel/
Felicity Jones has said her contract for this film had an option for a sequel. Now her in Rogue 2: Too Many Bothans may not be possible since she and the rest of the Rogue One crew did not make it to the end credits. Some speculate that her character may have actually survived before the reshoots.

Came across this in an ew.com article about showing this film to children. It's pretty much the film in a nutshell.
Last year, I described The Force Awakens as the darkest Star Wars film yet, and I still think that was true at the time. The themes of abandonment, brutality, and death were much more intense in J.J. Abrams’ film than previous installments. But after seeing Rogue One, that title of “darkest Star Wars movie” has been usurped. This is the more “grown-up” movie that longtime Star Wars fans have been wanting – so we shouldn’t be shocked that it may not be ideal for the very youngest fans.

Other thoughts: 1. As nice as it is to see Cornelius Evazan & Ponda Baba (the two guys Luke and Obi-Wan have an altercation with in Mos Eisley) appear in the market. I was left wondering how they got out of the city so quickly as the city was obliterated not too long after. 2. Anakin became Darth Vader thanks to in part to a lot of lava burning him. I find it amusing he would want his own home fortress to be on a planet covered in lava. Mind you it looked amazing! Well in regards to #2 {Spoiler} His real homeplanet was filled with sand, which is coarse, rough, and irritating, and it gets everywhere.

I saw it last night and I thought it was good but not brilliant.
That said I'd LOVE a Vader solo flick (Base it on the Vader comics we just had). Hell if they're doing a SW:Universe then do "Shadows Of The Empire" dammit

BTW here is the spot in the trailer not the film I mentioned above (or previous page if it ticks over {Spoiler} It seems like, based on the footage from the trailers, Jyn, Cassian and Bodhi Rook may have originally survived longer than they did in the final film. There are shots of them running on the beach and Jyn has the Death Star plans in her possession at that time. Did they originally survive? Was Bodhi flying the TIE fighter and saved Jyn if the satellite dish was destroyed? Did Krennic come out and get smoked by a blast from a TIE fighter piloted by Rook?
The only thing that leaves me scratching my head is how C3PO and R2D2 are able to watch the fleet taking off from Yavin 4 and yet somehow be on the Tantive IV for the beginning of ANH (since Leia was at the battle above Scarif in that ship).
