There's one part that did confuse me. Nowhere did they mention what effect something as expensive as the Death Star would have on trade tariffs. Or for that matter, what bureaucratic offices Tarkin would have go through when filing out paper work on it's construction. I was totally lost. I wonder, of all the people watching Phantom Menace for the first time in theaters, how many had a sense of foreboding when the opening crawl was the equivalent to an episode of NPR's Marketplace. But as it pertains to your question, clearly the Death Star was intended to create long term financial worries in the commodities market, forcing a bear market when APR's are pressured to rise despite financial shortfall from lessening tax bases. Of course that leads to a bear market when municipalities release bonds in an attempt to bridge the gap and create short term liquidity. The private sectors respond by defaulting on the NASDAQ and Dow estimates, forcing mass selling and shorts of tech sectors and tentative buy backs of gold based currency in the hopes of re-evaluations based on the price of oil. Now here's where it gets interesting, you see the...

...Sometimes I think people take this "Disney is going to rule our lives" thing a bit too seriously to be amusing... Yeah, when you use the word "indoctrination" non ironically about popular culture, you not so much lose the argument as much as take part in its own assassination. Like, seriously, I know we are in an age of trying to get hits for websites and newspapers but what happened to just not liking something? Do we have to act like every movie a big company makes is a starting point to Orwell's 1984?

Then with a grunt, Armond let loose a fart so potent that it'd undo a vasectomy and promptly stuck his head down and smelled until he started drooling all over the floor.

It always makes me laugh when critics demand originality from an integrated installment of a series with a well established identity.
As if a Star Wars movie would make any sense at all if it was a Dogma 95 drama directed by Lars Von Trier.

And where the hell do you want to film the evil castle on the lava planet, sir?

Saw it twice. Great movie both times. One thing bugged me though and I don't know how to do spoiler tags on my phone so be forwarned, there's slight spoilers that follow......
At the end when Jyn is on the tower and Krennic has her at blaster point, Jyn tells him everything, tells him about the weakness, and says that she broadcast it to the galaxy..... But she hadn't yet. So he could've easily shot her, removed the plans, and fixed the weakness.

Just got back. I was dead tired so I kept dozing off during the middle, but what I saw of it was great.

I loved the movie. Probably the most depressing entry in the series. Somehow I'm also not surprised that Armond White continues to be up his own ass with movie reviews. {Spoiler}I love that the Hammerhead cruisers were in the Rebel fleet. Loved seeing that nod to the KOTOR era on the big screen.

I went to see this yesterday and I decided to take a day and go over my thoughts and I think my favorite thing about this movie is that it gave us things we never really got in any of the previous movies. Seeing big overland ground battles was awesome to finally see and by that I mean proper war scenes. Seeing actual people in actual costumes doing battle. We saw it in the prequel trilogy but it was all so obviously CGI that it never had that realism that this movie had. We saw it a little at the end of ROTJ on Endor, but that still felt a little small and was more focused on the Ewoks that you didn't even see what any other rebels were doing. Seeing Vader do what he did was also something we've never seen in a Star Wars movie and it was absolutely spectacular!! Going to spoiler tag the rest of my thoughts. Also about the pun, this is a Vader who, days after these events, would choke a guy and remark that he found his lack of faith disturbing. The same Vader who accepted an apology from Captain Needa as he is killing him. The same Vader who mocked Obi-Wan throughout their final duel. Vader was always a pretty sassy SOB. {Spoiler}{Spoiler} I really appreciate the fact that they did have all the heroes die in the end. It added more weight to the mission and added to the idea of how desperate the situation was that everyone was willing to lay down their lives for this cause was fantastic.
This also made me think about the reshoots and if it's true what a few others have said about some of the crew surviving, then it's likely the reshoots changed that. Which means that all the concern about Disney messing with the movie to make it lighter when they did the exact opposite possibly.

Agreed about the pun, I don't see how anyone would have a problem with it at all. I thought it was a great line.

If by lead actors he's referring to Diego Luna I completely agree. That was a terrible miscast. I think he's an okay actor but not right for that role. That role really needed a damn good actor to pull it off.

That role really needed a damn good actor to pull it off. My friend kept calling him Hipster Solo, now that I had the weekend to let it sink in, in some ways it was a great film, in other ways it was kinda rushed and the only character I cared about was the droid. I will say I enjoy Episode 7 more as I really cared about the new characters by the end. This one I couldn't really tell you what the charaters names even are, Felicity Jones did a great job but I never really was sold on what her character was fighting for. Then it just goes down from there. I'd rank them.. 1) Return of the Jedi 2) Force Awakens 3) Revenge of the Sith 4) New Hope 5) Rouge One 6) Empire Strikes Back 7) Phantom Menace 8) Attack of the Clones Not trolling, I feel the opening in Jaba's palace the best part in the entire Star Wars series. Empire just kinda bored me, but I did like parts on Hoth.

My rankings would be:
Empire Strikes Back Return of the Jedi New Hope The Force Awakens Rogue One Revenge of the Sith Phantom Menace Attack of the Clones
It's by no means a knock on Rogue One to be ranked that relatively low. I put New Hope, Rogue One, Force Awakens, and Revenge of the Sith all around the same tier of quality and it's really close together for the four of them.
