I think he's being corny as hell on purpose to set up his heel turn and character change. By WrestleMania everybody will be saying how awesome he is. First post that's nailed it on the head in this thread. It's blatantly obvious that Jericho's turning in the near future, with him playing the mid-40s guy who thinks the material he did over 15 years ago is still cool, but knows it isn't just to troll everyone.

I'll always be a Y2J fan, even if he is WWE's cool dad now.

I don't think it's blatantly obvious, because if it was that blatant a lot more people would think this is the case. I think you're right about him turning, but I'm not quite sure. If so, good on him for playing it well and not tipping his hand too strong.

I will say jacket sans shirt seems blatant.
"That looks ridiculous."
He knows. It's like his hair knot in WCW--supposed to look silly

Part of the problem stems from the fact that, at one point, this guy reinvented himself and took his craft very, very seriously. Now, he's essentially revisiting the stuff he he did more than a decade ago with very little adjustment to the times. It's cool to come back as Y2J after years of being that serious guy, but he's dug deeper into the nostalgia well for his character that it's starting to be detrimental to the product and is now basically one of those guys that contributes nothing overall. He's still a good worker, but I don't actually about his matches because if he goes over, it's often at the expense of the guy he beat, and if he lost, he's not at that top tier where it meant something due to a career of regularly losing to big names.
Though, I won't be surprised if he looks back on it 10 years from now when doing a career retrospective and being shown stuff he said back in 2008 and 2009 and realize this:
Plus, he DID side with Bill DeMott during that whole bullying stuff that finally resulted in him getting canned.

While I agree with a lot of what people are saying here (count me on finding him stale as hell) I know for me a lot of it comes from two specific areas as well. #1 - We know he's not going to be around for very long. He's going to float through the Mania season and then bugger off sometime in the spring. There's virtually no chance of him doing anything impactful other than jobbing out to people. There's nothing wrong with this obviously as there's plenty of part timers, but with Jericho its so blatant that he's basically useless. #2 - His actual "real life" personality is complete dreck. He's exceedingly obnoxious in a way that's borderline sociopathic, he oozes conceit to the point that he really deserves to be punched in the face. I can't tell you how many times over the last 2-3 years where I've just shaken my head at some of the stuff he's said or things that he found funny that weren't. And on top of that his absurd trolling of fans. I get that he probably gets hounded like crazy, but the way he acts in some respects is narcissistic. I've gone from really liking and respecting the guy (and I still do to an extent in respect to his outstanding work in the ring), but I've gone almost complete 180 on him in recent years. I'd rather Jericho retire than Big Show at this point, and take the stupid jacket with you. My opinion of him now takes nothing away from his accomplishments and the lauding he's deserved of when he does call it a career, but he just treads water now. He brings nothing to the table. He's like that 42 year old in the lineup that cant hit for shit anymore and is just playing on borrowed time. I'd say he brings more than Big Show.

Didn't he punch a woman a while back? Most accounts I remember say she slapped and/or spit on him first.

I THINK he's gearing up for one last heel run as an out-of-touch has-been. If he's playing this completely straight and stays as a face, then everyone complaining about him is right. That seems like such a bizarre development for a dude who's pretty much always been smart and ahead of the curve, though. Even if it's true smarks will refuse to admit they got worked. There's also such a weird "What have you done for me lately?" attitude that a lot of fans are guilty of. It's not AS prevalent here, though of course it's still present, but I've seen a ton of people act like they never liked the guy even though he was an IWC favorite as recently as 2012 or so. I admit I'm tired of him but that's more because he's been a bunch of nothing since 2013, and I put a lot of that down to booking. He can absolutely still go and if he puts in the work for his character as well then I'd be fine with seeing Jericho in a prominent role in 2016, especially with the roster in dire straights at the moment. As easy it is to say "Build new stars!", in the all of two or three months we have to Mania it's not really the time.

Because I haven't found him entertaining since, like, 2008, and that was really only for about two weeks before the serious act was already wearing thin.
My biggest problems with Jericho, I think, are that he can't seem to come up with more than a character summary for a gimmick and doesn't really get how to properly mix things up and be consistently evolving, and it's very hard to buy him as any sort of threat on any level because most of his offense just gets a, "... That's it?" when he wins with it. Latter in particular is an issue he's always had and it's just become worse the more his stuff gets no-sold in a post-Michaels / Taker world.

The reason I loved his 2008-2009 stuff so much was that it was a completely different Jericho. Then he returned in 2012 and was pretty weird. Since then, each return is just him as Y2J again and it's tiring at this point. His returns have been diminishing. After his shit feud with Fandango and the even worse one with Ryback, I was pretty much done with Jericho. Even the feud with Bray Wyatt was severely underwhelming. I like Jericho back in small doses, like for his matches with Owens and Neville.

Honestly? That weird concave chest he's developed. I'm legit scared someone's going to hit him hard in the chest and he's just going to cough his lungs up and then just stare at his lungs on the mat all confused and I'll never be able to unsee that look of confusion on a man's face after he coughed up his own lungs after his concave chest finally caved in completely.

Jericho is one of my all-time favourite wrestlers. For the past few years he's just gotten so stale and tries way too hard. He's got a mid-life crisis going on. Just the way he dresses and that whole segment with the social media not that long ago... The whole defending Bill DeMott thing wasn't fun too.
I do have to point out how hilarious it is that about 8 years after he went all SRS, at 45-years old he's trying to be his 30-year old self.

But that was almost 3 years ago now, and I give less of a shit every time he shows up again.

It actually started for me with his podcast. He was so obnoxious. And when he started coming back on the show occasionally, I just couldn't not notice how unfunny he was. It feels like some pantomiming charisma. He's loud, smiling, energetic, but nothing he says means anything. He uses the same schtick as he did 15 years ago and the stuff he says that's supposed to be devastating are just weak. He's like the older middle-aged guy who says something he thinks is hilarious, and smiles like he's the shit.
Plus he just looks like a massive douchebag these days.

His podcast has hurt him IMO. I used to listen but he's pretty obnoxious.
EDIT: I swear I didn't look at the post above mine when I typed this haha.
