Bryan Cleared to Return to Ring by Independent Neurologist

What I really hope for this is an end to all the annoying, "Just retire" posts.

Two different doctors have cleared him, he wants to wrestle, so that's that.

The WWE can't really go over the head of their own doc though and sustain a tenable professional relationship, so it's either him or Bryan really.

With Bryan the worry isn't so much whether he is medically able to wrestle, it's more that with his style and unwillingness to cut back it will only be a matter of time before he's injured again. I can totally see why WWE is hesitant to clear him.

But I will also say that at this point, they need to either release him or clear him because there is no way he's going to retire of his own free will.

With what we know about Bryan it would almost certainly be a matter of when, not if, he gets seriously injured again.

In his own book he admitted that he hides injuries from doctors if he can. And it was less than a year ago he returned from a major injury and was doing stiff headbutt shots in his matches. Nothing I've heard from him even in recent interviews suggests that he's willing to tone it down.

WWE are in an awful position here. They're damned if they do and damned if they don't. I think they'll eventually cave in and clear him but there will be a huge shitstorm if he picks up any other head/concussion related injuries.

If he was in the Rumble, have him eliminate Kevin Owens, then Owens comes back later when Bryan is one of the final four, and pulls him over the top rope. Nuclear heat. Owens becomes more hated than ISIS.

I'm very glad to see him come back as he's in my top ten of all-time but I don't want it to be for too long. I want him to have a decent run with the World title to make up for injury costing him that two years ago and then call it a day. If it doesn't happen for a couple of years, then fine, as long as it happens.

Jim Ross on Observer Radio yesterday alluded to this mindset. He asked what fans who support him potentially putting himself at risk will say if/when he winds up in a wheelchair.

I'm a big Bryan fan. He got me into ROH in 07' and was my favorite part of WWE up until him relinquishing the title. If he's been out this long, if he's had this many concussions, what does he have left to prove? Cleared or not, his health has been in question for a couple of years now. He was cleared last year for those three months he wrestled before getting hurt again. What's the point? I've seen his best, anything past this point can put him in Kurt Angle territory. It's worrisome.

I really laugh at the notion that Vince is blocking Bryan because he doesn't like him. That just screams tinfoil conspiracy theory. I think I rather play it safe with someone like Bryan with his injury history than have him get injured again on their watch.

That makes a whole lot of sense. The company can't afford another similar issue. But the fact that Bryan is getting clearance from specialists can't be overlooked surely?

I mean. It's not like specialists haven't cleared Football players that went on to have serious problems before.
