I feel like I'm going to lose brain cells wading into this thread, but I'd like to point out that this is essentially the same argument I see ad nauseum in places like football and motorsports, where concussion research or dead drivers be damned, we want our football players and race car drivers to have dementia when they're 50 or die from avoidable accidents because safety is for PC pansies. It's no different than F1 and Indycar fans bitching and moaning about possibly putting cockpit canopies or some forms of head protection on the cars (when nearly all the deaths in open-wheel racing in the last twenty years have been from objects hitting the driver's head) because open-cockpit is "traditional". Always the goddamn appeal to tradition. And always the slippery slope, too. You can't advocate any sort of a safety upgrade without someone immediately jumping on you and going "So you want nobody to win and everyone to get a participation ribbon too, right?" But we're talking about wrestling. A sport where Let me stop you right there. It's not a sport, it's live theater that happens to be televised. If your suggestion is the "illusion of sport," no actual legitimate regulated sport would let a participant bleed like a stuck pig. If your implying "blood's no more risky than..." you're missing the point that it's all a form of improv acting and *actual* bleeding is a needless touch of reality inserted into that acting. It's 2016, nobody reacts to an Austin or Eddy-style crimson mask as "omg he's bleeding," but rather "omg he bladed himself," it's a needless hole poked into the magic. Plus, in a medium where everything else is predetermined, why should the blood be real? It doesn't make sense.

Ric Flair would not nearly be as legendary as he is if he did not blade.

JWHILE WE ARE IT,WHY DON'T WE CHANGE THE MAT FOR A GIANT MATRESS. AND THEY WEAR GIANT FLUFFY GLOVES TO NOT HURT EACH OTHER. Jokes aside, there is no argumento to go blading instead of fake blood. Same effect,i didn't even notice it was fake when watching on youtube.there is no cons.

On the subject of blading aside from the dangers, I always sorta thought it was ridiculous on the circumstances they use it.
I sometimes thought it made some wrestlers look like they have paper skin with how easy they bled in some cases.

It was probably HHHs suggestion to do the fake blood, not Reigns being a pussy or whatever.
HHH has always had the mindset of "you don't have to kill yourself over this" which I respect about him.

In this case, f*** tradition, being safe and infection/disease free is more important than scarring yourself for life.

You guys are so used to us removing the Baby Ruth from the pool so quickly that when we allow ONE gimmick troll to post more than 10 times y'all lose it. You're spoiled FAN. Anyways, the topic is still valid and there's discussion to be had so let's try and salvage this and actually argue rationally please. Enough harping on the OP. No more ganging up. I'd like to hear more from posters who like blading and not have posters shunned and shamed into silence.

Do you know how many jobbers had to blade before the show so Gangrel could do his entrance? Mad respect. Bring back the Attitude Era!

I sometimes thought it made some wrestlers look like they have paper skin with how easy they bled in some cases. After decades of blading, some wrestlers actually do have paper skin. I read somewhere that Abdullah has to regularly apply vaseline to his forehead to prevent random spontaneous bleeding.

I guess Mass Transit is the greatest wrestler ever then seeing as he lost his "blading virginity" in such spectacular fashion Mass Transit was criminally assaulted by a thug posing as a "wrestler" who should have been in prison for over 10 years now. Mass Transit trusted his co-worker to properly blade him for effect. It was not his fault what happened to him. I think the comparison you are presenting is facetious at best, obtuse at worst.

I have to hear a legit reason why blading should still be used.
Tradition? That's not a reason, that's just stating something has been done before in the past. There are a lot of traditions in wrestling that have fallen by the wayside and for good reason.
"Toughness/real wrestlers do it?" I fail to see how blading and being a "real wrestler" connect in any way. Wrestling is about making people believe that something isn't real is actually real. Blading actually goes against the very nature of wrestling.
"Its just as dangerous as...." Again, not really a reason. Pointing out that its equally as dangerous as something else isn't a reason to keep it around. Its just pointing out that it shares a similar level of danger. It doesn't actually address whether or not it enhances/detracts from a match.
"I like seeing guys bleed real blood." Probably the most honest answer that is easily defendable. "I like it. I don't care if its antiquated and from a time when the business was COMPLETLEY different than it is now. I like it and want to see it." I can't argue with that.
I love this thread though, just for the lol factor alone. I mean, if I had died not knowing the term "blading virgin," I'm not sure my life would be as complete.

Now, I'm not picking any sides but... The way you guys are jumping on and responding someone whose viewpoint doesn't fit with the general hivemind here just comes off so pretentious. Because it's an obvious troll account/thread? See, this here is part of the problem. I am not a troll, nor am I trolling. I am not 12 years old, I am over 40 years old. People who do not contribute to the thread and instead try to subtly try to control others opinions and viewpoints towards posters are doing damage to the forum, on any forum. It's not up to you to decide who is a "troll", who is trolling, etc. You are trying to use post count and length of history here to control others viewpoints on me so a concensus builds to the point where a moderator blocks me because I am rocking the boat of the private clique of the forum. :-( I am a legit poster, a straight shooter who says what she means without fear of anyone. I know that rubs some people the wrong way, but it's who I am.

I am not a "gimmick troll", I actually am a real person with extensive knowledge of wrestling and will add greatly to this forums entertainment value, if given the chance. It's unfortunate to hear a mod call me a "gimmick troll" ?
