What's been a board-wide issue? If there are rules being broken, please alert a moderator and we will handle it. People just posting an ABANDON THREAD Gif and hardly anything else. Its one thing to do it when a thread is started by the occasional troll or when a thread really does go off the rails, but there has been no good cause for that in this and other threads where I've seen this going on. Okay. I want you to take a second for me here and do something. I'm going somewhere with this, I promise. I want you to come up with a rule that abolishes this in a way that is clear and short, 2-4 sentences, that is easily understood by anyone reading the forum's rule page for the first time. It needs to be to the point, with no gray areas that can be questioned or gotten around, but also will not hinder actual, legitimate posts that are similar to them.

when Gamergate still exists I normally hate reaction .gifs/images but the whole situation is so absurd and pointless to me that Naito quite literally is the only way to express my feelings on the matter. There are very few things I can think of that matter less than this and that's coming from someone who writes essays about why these young wrestlers need to slow it down and has racked up thousands of posts on an Internet forum. No, I'm not the arbiter of what does and doesn't matter. It's my opinion. It sure as shit means nothing to me. I wish the whole thing would up and die on both sides. It spills into everything and has ever since the whole goofy fiasco broke because people always have to throw in their smarmy jabs like that's some high form of discourse, as well as completely misrepresenting things without all the facts a la this thread's initial OP. I am never going to post on the matter again unless you hold my wife hostage and force me to, and I'm not even married so good luck there. I don't negotiate with terrorists anyways. I just wanted to get it off my chest. Stay safe mijos.

It's a joke on the controversial nature of a topic. Nothing more, nothing less. FAN likes to keep things light as a whole, so you can't fault the userbase for adding in levity when possible to keep things from getting all grimdark or CSPAN up in here. I wouldn't have it any other way, personally. I just don't see a point when there's civil discussion going on, and honestly I don't think it ever really helps. But yes I will just report next time.

It sucks that Rapp got fired because she did a lot of great work in getting JRPG's that otherwise would've never seen the light of day in North America released here. But yeah, what she did (some freelance modeling work) was technically a fireable offense according to her contract. Granted, from what I understand, someone (likely with an axe to grind) snitched on her doing some modeling work, which isn't cool. But yeah. From NOA's side of things, it was, unfortunately for fans of niche Japanese games, justified.

A user made a complaint and a dev happened to agree with it. There's no conspiracy. No there isn't because this in no way comes close to a conspiracy. But taking one complaint and then taking it out of a game because of it is silly. What it really is is imbalanced customer service. Only it wasn't because of one complaint at all. Jeff Kaplan, Overwatch's head honcho, explained that they were already iffy about the pose in question as it was out-of-character for Tracer. At most, that one complaint was a nudge in a direction that Kaplan and the creative team were already leaning in. They did an admittedly poor job of making it sound like it was because of that complaint, but the followup blue post clarified their stance and ensured people that, no, this wasn't because just one person made a complaint about it. Besides, Widowmaker is still in game and she's filled with fanservice-y stuff and will probably stay that way because she's a femme fatale trope. And the pose in question looked terrible on Tracer, not only because it was really OOC for her, but also because it gave her an atomic wedgie.

Can I vent for a bit about how stupid the "-gate" suffix is? Watergate is an actual place where an actual thing happened, please stop attaching it to any stupid little conspiracy that pops up. It minimizes how absurd the entire Watergate scandal was, but worst of all is just lazy.

Givin on how hard it was to get games like Xenoblade/Fatal Fame or the virtual console released of Earthbound. Plus the half ass translation of Fire Emblem. Random meme and insertion personal political views that wasn't in original version. Changes a whole conversation between two people to "...". Plus you had an actress come out and say that the treehouse didn't give them any info on the game that they were doing voice acting for. In my personal opinion, Nintendo need to scap the whole Treehouse group , hired a group that actually give a shit about translation games and Japanese company need to adapt a "studio ghibli no cut" policy to their games.

I admit that I'm not very invovled with these niche loclazied games(but i really wanted Xenoblade X). But i have seem many people unhappy with the localization/translation jobs. A big part don't care as long as they get the game of course. The only thing I will always hate is cutting content.

I used to follow her around her stint at GI. To find out she got canned is the least surprising thing I've heard in a while.
Things that don't mix: radical views on expressed sexuality and the age of consent, and working in a representative position for an overtly family-friendly company like Nintendo.
Any of the typical troglodyte harassment she has received is exempt from my viewpoint on this, because that is 100% always wrong. Nintendo should have done more to stop this stuff. However, they cannot be blamed for canning someone who is directly and continuously conflicting with their corporate identity. She seems to have a fundamental lack of awareness of herself and how business life works. Example: If Nintendo doesn't want to use you for things because they feel your tattoos and piercings aren't representing them in a professional way, regardless of how archaic that mentality may be, they have a right to choose other people in these sort of positions (she tweeted something about feeling pressured to not get any other cosmetic work done). I'm not sure why someone so clearly expressive and opinionated as her wanted to work in a place where she'd have to exhibit self-constraint. That's clearly not her thing. It just doesn't seem good for either party involved. She used the small fame she gained by being a Nintendo employee to start dialogues about sensitive topics like rape, softening child pornography laws, etc. That's not knocking those subjects or their worth to be discussed, it's questioning the platform and her relative position.
Regarding the moonlighting thing, it's shitty that people had such an axe to grind that they'd try and get her canned for that, but if I were Nintendo, I wouldn't want one of my reps doing risque stuff (whatever that exactly is is unclear) behind my back, either. Sounds like she violated company policy by whatever vague thing it was. Allison just constantly pushed boundaries in an environment where it wasn't really appropriate to. She should work for Polygon or one of the many other 'progressive' gaming outlets where they actively encourage those with similar viewpoints and interests.

I kind of hate how everyone screams GamerGate when something controversial happens in the video game industry. Especially if it's about a woman who gets fired for having a second job and openly talking about child pornography on Twitter.
Like hell everyone's first instinct was oh boy neckbeards got a woman fired or oh no social justice warriors to White Knight and defends this damsels honor or sexist company fires woman or hahahahahaha women can be pedophiles too. Like Jesus let this thing die.

I don't think people were trying to get her fired because of the moonlighting job but more because of her view on child pornography. As for gamergate, think about this for a second. Nintendo is a million dollar company, you really think their going to fired someone just because a group of random people told them to? Nintendo barely listen to it consumer base, let alone a group of people on the internet.

Every generation has a great war story to tell their children and grandchildren. Our grandpa's and great grandpa's told war stories of World War 1 and 2 and The Korean War. Our grandpa's and fathers told stories of Vietnam. Currently young father's are telling us stories about Bosnia, Gulf War, Afghanistan, and Iraq. We will tell war stories to our children and grandchildren and great grandchildren about GamerGate and how we slayed a bunch of Neckbeards or Social Justice Warriors depending on which side you fought on.

My personal take is Treehouse in general just seems completely awful at their job to me and like they frequently change things for no other reason than because they have the option to.

I'd remember when they put a doge meme in tri force hero and people was wondering what the point of it since it wasn't in the Japanese or European version of the game.
