The sad thing is, I have this feeling he's probably ok with losing it to The Miz, since they're close friends.
But even sadder than that -- Vince sees him being ok with dropping the belt (under any conditions) and thus probably thinks he has no problem just being a jobber.

Here's a bit of trivia for you... Of the three championships Ryder has won in WWE (1x Tag Team, 1x United States and 1x Intercontinental), he has lost each of them on his first televised defense. I hope they give the guy a ten minute WWE title run just so he can be a modern grand slam champion.

At this point in time, he probably IS OK with just being a jobber. And if he isn't, at least he's composing himself better than last time, when he vented his frustration through all that passive-aggressive whining on Twitter and somehow lost the moral support over the company that de-pushed him.

I'm glad it happened, but to the Miz? That is just as bad a champion as Ryder.

You realize when he retires people will remember Mania and the angle the night after with his dad and Maryse, not to mention telling the story of meeting "Razor Ramon", as one of his career highlights? This entire story, even if it's a two night story, is the biggest thing Ryder has done since winning the US Championship. Oh yeah this is still better than the position(or lack of thereof) that Ryder was in just a few weeks back. But it could still be better. That said, I'm not complaining too much. Favorite wrestler had a mania moment, and that's what I'll remember.

Why couldn't they just do this with the US title?
Owens and Zayn should be having a long feud with each other over the Intercontinental Championship

Why a fake feel good moment to lose it the next night? Would it have killed them to let him keep it to the next ppv?

Why a fake feel good moment to lose it the next night? Would it have killed them to let him keep it to the next ppv? If I had any faith in the WWE, I'd say that since they want Zayn to keep feuding with Owens, they wanted to do an injustice to Ryder so that he'd have a match that made sense with the "payback" theme for next PPV so he could earn his belt twice and they could milk the underdog thing. Since I have no faith in the WWE he's gonna lose his rematch at Smackdown and not appear on television ever again.

{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}* WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz retained over Zack Ryder. Maryse came out after Ryder but didn’t get much of a pop, then introduced her husband. Maryse ended up interfering, allowing Miz to hit the Skull Crushing Finale for the win. So this pretty much sums up the entire Zack Ryder's comeback of 2016. Vince, why do you hate Ryder so much?

I don't get why they gave him the belt in the first place. I wasn't a fan of the idea of him being in the match and then he won and I was like "ok this could be good" then he loses to Miz who always feels like a transitional champion. I guess he got his Wrestlemania moment and it was a thank you, for being a good jobber I guess.

If he's good enough to win the belt at Mania, isn't he good enough to have a reign?
Taking the belt away so instantly, instead of actually running with the idea of an unlikely champion and telling the story of a loser making a comeback...
They have a perfectly good narrative opportunity here, and they ditched it in favor of a guy who always has that "default" feeling as a midcard champion.

What I like about this is that Ryder has been super positive on twitter, just saying that nobody can take away his mania moment from him. And honestly...if he's not upset about how it turned out, I can't be either.

The problem I have is that Ryder looks like he won the belt on a fluke, but then choked as soon as he had to face one of the "real stars" one on one.

I swear they're going to make Zack Ryder the first Grand Slam Champion who was never able to defend his titles. He lost the Tag Team, the US, and the Intercontinental title on his first televised defense. I wouldn't be surprised if he somehow becomes WWE Champion, that he gets cashed in by the MITB winner immediately after and loses it.

It's okay, it's more humorous knowing they have to bring in Miz's hot wife to get him heat, ala the Marc Mero treatment.

I guess he got his Wrestlemania moment and it was a thank you, for being a good jobber I guess. He is clearly their substitute for Daniel Bryan. Another guy with grassroots following the WWE didn't plan. Throw him a bone, maybe the fans won't boo Roman. That said, I think we're all missing the point here. What is going to go down in history more: - Miz winning the IC title for the umpteenth time and probably feuding with Dolph or some other prick yet again or... - Zack Ryder winning a ladder match at Mania by beating multiple former IC champions and a couple of the hottest future prospects in the company? It's pretty obvious that Ryder's legacy is now set forever. He won a ladder match at Mania in front of 100,000 fans. He doesn't need anything else. That said, I found it hilarious, because I can't stand him as a worker, I love Miz, and I would have taken basically anyone in that match winning the belt other than Ryder or Sin Cara.
