I'm truly hyped/sad about this. This trailer was a good first indication but they need to continue to tear our heart out with "This is it. No more Jackman" and this movie will make bank. Furthermore, it just seems like a really different film.

This over-reliance on time travel and timelines pisses me off but I realize that it's the most X-men thing in a series of X-men movies that don't actually seem to be about the X-men. Excellent observation there. That's definitely been a key trait in the X-lore since the original DOFP. Age of Apocalypse, Cable & Stryfe, House of M, Bishop, Here Comes Tomorrow, the current younger original team, Rachel Summers/Grey, Old Man Logan, even older man Logan (Millar brought a much older version of his OML back in his Fantastic Force thing), even Wolverine's involvement in Age of Ultron. This is...typical.

Marvel does, in general, but a good half or more of the time travel plots have got to be in X-Men stories at this point.

Sounds like it'll only be Logan as an old man. Which is fine by me; most of that story was awful Exactly. I don't know why people were clamoring for an adaptation. Granted, Hulk and Hawkeye not being available would alter it quite a bit already, but I digress. Why would anyone want to see a movie based around a story where Wolverine sets out to murder a bunch of inbred Hulk people? To me, removing the inbred Hulks isn't that hard. Just focus on Logan having to restrain himself after "the incident" (granted, that was done by Mysterio but...) with his son not having any faith in him.

Looks decent. However, the dream is Clint Eastwood as old man Logan with Jackman as Logan in flashbacks.

I don't know how I feel about that for multiple reasons. This should by all rights be a convincing end to Logan's journey, but if they toss Ryan in there, let's face it, that's all anyone is going to be talking about. I also hope they see enough sense not to have the DP comedy in that scene, with Wade assuring the audience HE'S now the franchise's leading man and making witty and cynical remarks about Jackman.
I'm probably over-reacting though, I just don't want any mood whiplash

Okay, so the future section of DOFP takes place in 2023, with Logan, Xavier and company spending the best part of ten years on the run from the Sentinels wiping out mutants wholesale, and both Logan and Xavier are in solid health. In the alternate future, also 2023, where the Sentinels never happened and everybody survived Last Stand, Logan's healing powers are failing and Xavier's mind is being destroyed by Alzheimers. That bugs me almost as much as the rapid ageing. So basically every villain destroys the world until amazingly the x-men save the day...every time. I tell you what has me curious... this is Jackman's last time as Wolverine. So what happens in the next X-men movie? New Wolverine? No Wolverine? or does X-23 take over? Singer has been on record about the next x-film taking place in the 90s... Wolverine was a big part of that team. My thinking is they may bring in Deadpool before replacing Wolverine. Although I think it would be cool to bring in teenage X-23 into the X-Men. Although that's going to require some serious time jumping to make it work. In the original movie timeline, Wolverine did not meet the X-Men until the 00's. It could very well be the same in the post-DOFP revised timeline. They could easily make an X-Men movie set in the 90's without having to explain Wolverine's absence whatsoever.

Ryan is denying he filmed a cameo for Logan (and makes a bitchin' reference to Le Mis) I hope he's truly not in it. Logan looks like the kind of movie you don't want to shove a gratuitous cameo into. Now Deadpool 2 on the other hand...

This looks real good. More mature but not DC dark and gritty.

X-Men books are canon to the movie universe...ok, if that is'nt a big enough indicator Deadpool ought to cameo in this I don't know what is
