USA 1-0 over Paraguay.
Gutsy performance with the US down to 10 men. Brooks was my MOTM.
Paraguay dived and play-acted like a team of 11 Pepes.

I'm torn right now. On one hand, thanks to Costa Rica, the US wins Group A and may have likely avoided a date with Brazil in the quarterfinals.
On the other hand, by winning Group A, the US is now playing in Seattle on Wednesday instead of East Rutherford on Friday, which was why I purchased the tickets for the quarters. Well, there's still the chance of Brazil-Colombia.

Best tournament performance I've seen from England in over ten years. Absolutely travesty they didn't win, and based on the performance (not the result) we've played the best football so far.... Never thought I'd be saying that...

Brilliant display from England. Bad result. Kane taking set pieces, especially corners, is maddening. He's not good at them and he's a bloody target man. Vardy not coming on at the 60-65 minute mark, given how poor Kane was and how much space in behind England were finding, is equally maddening.
Walker was oustanding. As was Lallana, who for me shouldn't even have been in the squad to begin with, but what do I know.
Having said that, I'd much rather play appallingly and win, than play well and draw. Hodgson needs to take some lessons from Dyche, Burnley last season were the masters of undeserved wins.

England were good last night, but not clinical enough at all. A little weak defensively, also. I still think they will comfortably qualify from their group but when they come up against the better teams they will be exposed.

That's what I'm worried about really all that possession but nobody to stick the ball in the net. Kane taking corners just makes no sense either. Why we didn't bring Vardy on I don't know.

Turkey 0-1 Croatia
Good volley by Luka Modric to win it. Croatia were the better team throughout as well.

Unbelievable technique from Modric to strike that on the volley from that high up.
Northern Ireland just about hanging on at half time.

Jari Litmanen with some funny comments here, mentioning that he spent "a couple of months watching Premier League action in Fulham" while talking about Steven Davis who was in Fulham at the time.

Interesting action in Euro play so far. The Brits' stumbling in the opening match still continue.
Well, I can finally say with a lot of celebration (though not as much considering the shit that went down) that the NASL 2016 Spring Champions are likely the Indy Eleven! It won't be made official until tonight (assuming Ft. Lauderdale, the worst attending team in the league, surprisingly, doesn't win by 6 goals), but by scoring 4-1 against Carolina, they secured the honor and a spot in the Soccer Bowl if everything pans out tonight.

Poland 1-0 Northern Ireland
Same story as Turkey-Croatia earlier. Dominant team wins by a single goal.
Germany 2-0 Ukraine
Ukraine gave Germany a pretty good game in the first-half, but were disappointingly lacklustre most of the second. Ultimately a comfortable enough win for the Germans.

Interesting action in Euro play so far. The Brits' stumbling in the opening match still continue. I wouldn't say that, Wales won. As for England, Lallana put in his best performance in an England shirt yesterday, Rooney played well in his more midfield role and the full-backs offered some good options down the wing. Unfortunately, England have full-backs that aren't as good defensively as they are going forward.

Unfortunately, England have full-backs that aren't as good defensively as they are going forward. England definitely have to play the Newcastle '96 way. Defensively they're poor, but have some excellent attacking options, so they need to go for the jugular early and put games out of sight before their opponents get a foothold.

Ecuador 4-0 Haiti
Ecuador qualify for the quarters; Brazil and Peru will play each other for the other spot next.

Brazil 0-1 Peru
And Peru knock Brazil out with a blatant handball goal.

Wonder if I should bring a "Hand of God" sign to the game on Friday. Hope Colombia karma-slaps Peru.
