I was about to ask why the Copa America tournament doesn't have those extra officials behind the goal, but then I remembered how Skrtel blatantly elbowed a Welsh player right under the nose of one of those officials and they still didn't make a decision.

Irritates me to no end because officials have called handball for MUCH less in this tournament. Instances where you could have argued ball-to-hand were called and yet, that is called a goal even though it's clear as day that the goal scorer used his hand to gain an advantage. Piss off.

A Northern Ireland fan has died in Nice. Doesn't appear to be related to any hooliganism going on at the tournament but another sad event happening off the pitch at this tournament.

Considering that UEFA officials are contemplating banning some Russian groups due to conduct in Nice & Marseille, hooliganism is a concern. Shame that this was isolated from that. And, it's official. The Indy Eleven are the NASL Spring Champions, which means we have an automatic berth in the Soccer Bowl playoffs come November. Now, I'm hoping we thrash the woebegone Chicago Fire in Open Cup play and move on to the final rounds.

Surprised that David de Gea is starting for Spain today considering the allegations being thrown his way at the moment.

Great goal by Piqué late on. Looks like it will be enough to seal the 3 points for Spain.

Jari Litmanen is a great pundit. After breaking the match in pieces and explaining why Spain won, he translates Gerard Pique's post-match interview from Spanish to Finnish.

You know I hated this "Let's check in with the England camp" every five minutes before. It's even more annoying now there are other home nations there who are completely ignored. Especially now they've started with "us v them" in regards to the Wales game. Though that is mainly Ian Wright who of course is biased as f***.

I hope the accusations really are false because I don't care how good a keeper you are, if you're a goddamn child porn peddler, the only position you should be allowed to view the match from is behind bars. And my God these English fans, what the Hell is wrong with them? As if the fights weren't bad enough, some of them shouted "ISIS where are you?". Classy. Travelling thousands of kilometres just to cause mayhem and hurt people because these sad sacks have nothing else in their lives. Pathetic. Not that the Russians are better, and some Russian officials are way worse by actually supporting the hooligans, but the English ones started this shit before the tournament even began.

Ireland have had many chances in that first half. Overall we're playing well but I dont believe we will get as many chances in the second half. And we all know it only takes half a chance for Zlatan to score.
Hopefully we can keep this up in the second half.

Not a bad result, though I think we did enough to win it, just didn't take our chances. It's a shame we sat back after taking the lead as that was the only time Sweden were really on top.
Tough work for both teams after this, so we'll wait and see how Italy vs Belgium goes later on.

Belgium have all the possession and all the chances yet Italy score. Typical Italians.
Great long ball and fantastic first touch.

Defensive masterclass by the Italians. I feel I'm playing on stereotypes by just typing that. But it's true.
Should be an interesting second round of games in this group.

Italy thoroughly deserved to win that game. Belgium were horrendous throughout the game aside from a few chances here and there.
Lukaku in particular had a nightmare of a match.

Having a bit of Italian in me I always like to see them do well. But tonight made me remember the good ol' (Italian) days. Tremendous unity, fantastic incisiveness and resolute defending that they haven't shown since '06. Yeah, they're not going to win this tournament and yeah, on paper, this is the worst Italian team in living memory but damn they play the Italian way, only modernised. And it's great to see. They thoroughly deserved tonight's win and showed Belgium up. I've said for a while that Belgium were overrated (after touting them as dark horses in the build-up to the WC in 2014 before they got so much press they no longer could even be considered dark horses) and they showed it tonight. Luca, on BBC1, nailed it at HT, the Italians may not be as talented individually as the Belgians but they play so much better as a unit that it doesn't matter.
