Well I suppose it couldn't be any worse than Final Fantasy 13.

I am tempted to wait a week to get it to see how it goes. However, knowing myself it will be in the PS4 sometime this week

Well I suppose it couldn't be any worse than Final Fantasy 13. Ehh. I liked 13 as a whole. They forced a trilogy when there was no need. 13-2 was best of all three, while 13-3 was the worst.

I also liked 13 and 13-2, I didn't like the concept with 13-3 and having to do errands to boost your stats. I pre-ordered FF15 so I can't wait to play it.

I watched IGN's video review as a generally trust them.
Sounds like they have made a great open world game, but that the story drags it down, along with a 2 hour FFXIII like corridor after corridor sequence.
Still, 2 hours out of the 40 given as story play time is hard that bad!
Can't wait for my preorder to come....just have to actually find time to play now!

I wish this was coming out for PC. I don't have a Xbone or PS4. Though this will definitely push me towards getting a new gen console eventually. I've been impressed with what I've seen of it after being VERY skeptical of it when it was still Versus XIII. Then again, I was also initially impressed with how FF13 looked but then it's a completely different development team and I really like Tabata's vision for what the series should be. Between him and Yoshi-P, I think the series' future is in very good hands.

But yea I'm excited for FFX-15 and it seems that the heart is there. This is a supposed trilogy also right? So if anything it's off to a good start

I am cautiously optimistic about it. With the exception of XII, I have lost some of my passion for the franchise since X at least when it comes to the numbered games because oddly, the spin-offs like Dissidia, Tactics Advance, Crisis Core and even Record Keeper have been surprisingly good. I'm sure XI and XIV are good but I can't be arsed with MMOs, especially ones you have to pay a subscription for and I find making them part of the core franchise to be a joke. But with all that said, what I have seen and read about XV sounds very good to me, especially the fact that apparently, a large part of the game is open-world, at least during the first half of the game, which is really nice. I also really like the somewhat realistic aesthetic as I do love works that mix realism and fantasy (which is probably a big reason why VIII is my favourite). So while I don't expect much from the core franchise at this point, I have to admit this HAS rekindled my interest for Final Fantasy and I am crossing my fingers that this will be a return to form. I watched IGN's video review as a generally trust them. Sounds like they have made a great open world game, but that the story drags it down, along with a 2 hour FFXIII like corridor after corridor sequence. Still, 2 hours out of the 40 given as story play time is hard that bad! Yeah and the thing is, apparently the early parts of the game ARE very open, so it's not a case of "no wait! It gets good after the first 10 hours! Honest!". I don't mind some more linear moments if the game is generally open. We do need some guidelines, after all. And, I mean, the Final Fantasy games have always had sections that restricted your movement a bit. I wish this was coming out for PC. I don't have a Xbone or PS4. Though this will definitely push me towards getting a new gen console eventually. I'm sure they'll port it eventually (I dare say, once the consoles sales start dwindling at least). I mean, they have ported almost every game in the franchise to PCs (bizarrely, they skipped XII for some reason), including the most recent ones like XIII and Type-0, that weird semi spin-off thing. I have no plans to buy a next or even current gen console at the moment so I'll be waiting for that anyway so I'll have ample time to see the reception XV gets.

I'm thinking FFXII will get ported to PC once The Zodiac Age, the HD remaster, comes out next year.

Getting it and Pokemon Sun on Thursday. Really excited for this, Square has put all their eggs in the basket with this game, same way with the first Final Fantasy.

My pre-order will get here tomorrow but I'm pretty swamped for the week, so I'm not sure when I'll be able to get around to it. I'll try to squeeze some time in with it though. Really looking forward to it.

Only real complaint I've heard is that the music is rather unremarkable, which is odd for FF considering they brought us Force your Way, Clash on the Big Bridge, You are Not Alone and other amazing tracks.

No point in porting an old game if you're going to release an updated version right after. It just got delayed to 2017. Where did you read that? I can't find any source reporting it, not even on the wiki. Even the official website mentions no such thing.

Yoko Shimomura (Kingdom Hearts, Street Fighter II, Legend of Mana, Parasite Eve among others) also does the soundtrack and "unremarkable" is about the last word I'd use to describe her music usually. I'd have to hear for myself.

I preordered it. Gonna boost it up as soon as I finish work today. It looks an amazing game. I gave the movie, Kingsglaive a watch yesterday, it wasn't that great but apparently it makes the game a bit easier to understand.
I just hope there's lots of things to discover. One of my big pet peeves is open world games with no secrets or interesting things to find.
