I made a big mistake in thinking that I would be fine exploring during nighttime. I got massacred by a level 30 Iron Giant. So I take it that means there's a day/night system as well? Yep, harder monsters at night.

I have a question about this game...
I've seen people on Twitter say that the game won't run without a mandatory patch, but as someone who has never (and will never) have my PS4 online, would the game still be playable without it?

I don't know if it will run on an offline PS4 without the patch, but you're going to be missing out on a lot of bug fixes and such.
I don't see the big deal about taking the PS4 online just to download the patch.

I thought the reason they delayed it back in August was so they could fix the bugs on it, not so they could pull a Capcom and having the bugs and problems still be on there.

I'm really struggling with the battle system. It's so chaotic and I can't tell what's going on. I think I might just suck, though.
Anyway, my favourite thing in the game is driving around listening to classic FF music.

It give's you time to figure out what's going on and plan your strategy.

Though I'm only a few hours in and not quite used to the controls yet. I agree with the person who posted earlier that there should be a tactics option to help the NPC's change their battle style instead of just rushing in seemingly blind.

Prompto has become my favourite character {Spoiler}His love of chocobos and enthusiasm when they're on the way to the Chocobo Ranch is sweet.

One thing I found a pain with the battle system was the teleporting. To get to warp points even when aiming at the warp point I still kept missing and just zooming forward 10 yards. The game I don't think tells you this but to get to the warp point you need to hold down triangle rather than just tap it. Knowing that has made the battles much easier since I'm no longer doing poxy, 5 yard warps straight into an enemy

They probably already had a load of discs printed etc. by then, so it's easier to patch the game on initial install than waste money throwing out the already made discs to print new fixed ones.

I think I've gotten used to parrying, it's just dash forward and using spells I need to get used to.

I've never had it online, and I don't want to...besides, if I did buy the game and download the patch, it would break my prinicple of never buying games that don't work/are unfinished without patches. Basically, if a game is released on disc and is filled with bugs and glitches or is in an unfinished state then I won't buy it. I thought the reason they delayed it back in August was so they could fix the bugs on it, not so they could pull a Capcom and having the bugs and problems still be on there. That's what confused me as well, I saw articles saying that that was the case, but then I saw a bunch of people complaining on Twitter about downloading mandatory patches before they could play the game.

Basically, they're both right: SE did delay the games launch in order to put the planned day 1 patch in the disk to make sure that there wouldn't be many bugs. However, they made ANOTHER patch to be downloaded on day 1 to correct other bugs and needed fixes.

So, I have to ask... Since this is the first Final Fantasy to be in a modern setting on terms of relativity to today's world (I think)... Can you run over weak monsters with your car?

Well, it's certainly your prerogative to be a luddite. Just strikes me as an odd position to feel so adamant about. Besides, games have shipped out with bugs since the beginning of the game industry, including a lot of game-breaking ones. It's just that technology and games themselves are a lot more complex than they used to be and game developers, thanks to online infrastructure. have the means to continue development and give gamers fixes to problematic bugs and glitches. If Square had the means to patch out the Vanish/X-Zone glitch for Final Fantasy VI's original SNES release, they would've. Unsurprisingly, later releases of the game did remove it.

Wasn't really a glitch it was lazy/space necessity. Since that's how they handled the death animation for Xzone... if the creature is no longer visible after X-zone is finished then kill. Relm painting invisible creatures THAT was a glitch.

Well I looked up the patch information and it looks like I'll have to give this game a miss, as the patch seems to change a lot of important mechanics of the game and it's 8 GIGABYTES BIG. Even if I did find some way to connect my PS4 online, 8 Gigabytes would take far too long to download. I've never had it online, and I don't want to...besides, if I did buy the game and download the patch, it would break my prinicple of never buying games that don't work/are unfinished without patches. Basically, if a game is released on disc and is filled with bugs and glitches or is in an unfinished state then I won't buy it. I'm not against bug/glitch fixes, it's the major game changes that I don't like. That, and when a game ships with a bunch of missing content, which they patch in later... Besides that, if people can complain about George Lucas constantly changing Star Wars, then I don't see why I can't complain about a video game immediately making big changes via patches just after it's released.

Justice Monsters Five is pretty fun to play to kill some time.
I'm loving the interactions with the characters, none of it feels forced or implied
