Wouldn't surprise me if they're just hiring him to fill the reliable vet role on NXT once Nakamura/Joe get called up next year. I can't see them putting him on main tv with his weight unless he gets a singlet or something. Not sure why he insists on wearing the little trunks right now. I mean, I admit it didn't save Braden Walker, but a singlet could put less focus on him and more focus on what he can do. It's too distracting when the last time your audience saw the guy, he was nearly skinny. It'd be like if Punk made a big comeback next year looking like Hero does now. Kudos to him if he's still capable of having great matches, as I've heard many times now, so at the very least he'll do fine in NXT.

The guy's probably had the best 2016 as far as indy match quality goes so I'd be happy for him if he's getting another shot. With his added size now, I'd wanna see a Samoa Joe/Chris Hero war at some point.

I think hardcore fans forget sometimes that to 75% of the viewing audience, what they're watching isn't about how 'good' a wrestler technically is, it's just another form of entertainment to distract them for a few hours. Therefore, wrestlers need to present themselves in the best possible light. Now, does this mean that everyone needs to look like a chiselled Greek God? No, of course not, that's just not sustainable, but it does mean that you need to work with what you've got in the best possible way. Now, Hero clearly sees himself as the big, hard hitting badass type so really, to present himself in the best possible way he needs to dress to suit. It's no use standing there with a super serious 'I'm going to kill you' expression when you're wearing skimpy little purple trunks with your gut hanging over the top. To the casual fan who isn't aware of who Chris Hero is they're going to take him about as seriously as the chubby bloke who's had a few beers too many on holiday and got into an argument in his Speedos at poolside. A simple attire change would do wonders for him (Stan Hansen should be the perfect inspiration in my opinion) but hopefully with the marketing team of the WWE behind him, they'll be able to do something about that as I do think he could still have a great few years as a great asset to WWE with the most minor of tweaks.

Lasy I seen Chris Hero he just looked like a short version of Big Cass (body wise, not huge but no real muscle definition either). But going back and seeing some of the more recent photos I do see some peoples point. But I am sure he could shift enough weight in the performance centre with WWE's coaches. He may never be Scotty Steiner but with the right ring gear and gimmick he could get over.

He has to be using the Hero name considering Owens has the KO gimmick on lock right? Also if he's not gonna lose weight he's gonna have to change his attire up because right now he looks repug

f*** I hope this is true and they actually realize what they have this time. I don't care how big he is, he's one of the best wrestlers on the planet and he's better than 90% of their current roster. The fascination with his weight is f***ing gross and pathetic. Noone wants to see two guys with dumpy asses fake fight. Wrestlers that are out of shape make the whole biz look bad. See also Owens, Kevin. Counterpoints: Dusty Rhodes, Mick Foley, Vader.

Doesn't virtually every indie guy deny the initial report that they are going to WWE until they pass all the medical and stuff?

These posts about Chris Hero's body being too disgusting to watch are a lot more fun if you imagine they're being posted by Rick Rude.

I really want to see big fat Chris Hero come back as Evil Doink unicycling around the NXT Performance Centre elbowing dorks in the face and smoking big cigars

While it's true WWE has some guys getting big pushes without being Greek gods (KO, Samoa Joe, Corbin), I can imagine Vince choking on his snow-cone looking at current pictures of Hero. The guy makes some beloved Internet targets like Matt Hardy and Tommy Dreamer look like Rick Rude.

I really hope this is true. Outside of WWE I personally think he's one of the top three wrestlers in the world and would love to see him back in NXT. Plus he's one of the nicest people I've ever met so that helps.

He is in no worse shape than Nia Jax, but if anyone said anything bad about her they would be labelled something not very nice because..... womens wrestling and WWE diva's are beyond criticisms these days. But is is fine to pull out the Scotty Steiner gif for the men.

I really hope people realize that Meltzer did not "report" that Hero was going to WWE. He was asked if he was given Hero not taking any bookings for 2017 and losing his last seven matches and Dave said he had a similar hunch but had no idea. That isn't irresponsible, it's just answering a question honestly.
