They somehow got a hold of a copy to shut me up and after knocking the price down to 40 bucks they've finally shipped it, confirmed for Monday. Kinda miffed they didn't overnight it but hey the discount is super nice.

I've been playing it for the last 12 hours or so. The game's world is the best I've ever seen, hands down. There's so much to go to and it's not empty at all. There's so many times I go to do something only to find something in the distance and think "That looks interesting, let's check it out.
This game will kick your ass. I've been pretty good when it comes to 3D zeldas and only counting on one finger how many times I've died. Breath of the Wild I honestly think I've died 15-20 times already. If you want this to be a challenge, you'll get one.
I will say for how amazing the game is, it's not as perfect and flawless as review sites say it is. There's some framerate issues and the controls are very strange. There's also some "guess I'll die" moments from time to time as you can be doing something and then one little spark from behind you knocks out 4 hearts and you die. I hate to use the "too hard" card for this but this is by far the hardest Zelda game I've ever played.

Jesus, this game is really f***ing hard. I've lost count of the amount of times I've died to random Lizalfos or Moblins and I have 7 hearts. {Spoiler}I'm currently trying to get the shock arrows from the guy who has them but he's just brutal. He wipes out all but one half-heart of health with an attack and I've gone through four weapons with DMG of 20+ and the best I've done is get him down to just under half health.

However as I found out how to "beat" him before I did it, then I'd consider it cheating. Which as this goes against my ridiculous set of rules for playing a Zelda game through for the first time, I'm determined to beat him physically.

It took awhile to really click for me but I'm digging this game quite a bit now.
Though that said it's still really frustratingly hard sometimes. WAY too many enemies that can effortlessly one-shot you and take an eternity to kill.

Yes, Zelda, I know about the blood moon you don't need to tell me this everytime it happens.

I'm maybe 90 minutes into it, but two quick questions for people who are farther along:
1. Can you return to a shrine that you've completed? I understand I've missed a treasure chest.
2. What value/danger is there to spending time by a fire?

What value/danger is there to spending time by a fire? 1. Yes? I haven't tried, but I think you can go back there to get the chest (most of the stuff in them is either good mid-tier gear or mid-range stones). 2. Danger: Again, I'm not trying it, but I think going directly into the fire will hurt you. Value: You can skip to either morning (5 AM), noon or night if you sit at it (there's no danger if you actually sit there, it just skips to the appropriate moment) and, if you drop uncooked food near it, you will get the cooked version which will give you more hearts back than the raw version (e.g. a regular apple gives half a heart while the cooked apple is three-quarters of a heart). Also, the game world is gigantic (I've only visited three areas including the intro zone and it already feels massive). And a question, I'm playing it on Wii U and, for you Switch players, are the gyroscope puzzles hard to navigate? I had to wrestle my way through one and it was really unresponsive.

{Spoiler}Just defeated my second Divine Beast (the camel one). The dungeon made my head hurt but I cracked it in the end. Thunderblight Ganon was tough and I keep forgetting I have runes, so I was completely stuck for a while in the second phase of the fight and then I remembered the runes.

I'm I the only person who would've appreciated maybe a little more hand-holding?
I know self-suffiency is part of the game plan this time around, but man, I'm stumbling all over the place.
I accidentally threw my one good sword into water and couldn't find it again.

Really fun and unique design. Dunno how long it'll take me to get to the next one, i'm still just going everywhere exploring

I must have been really hungry yesterday, because I cooked up an omelet with mushrooms and didn't care about any buffs, only how good it looked.
And I'm getting my ass kicked Dark Souls style, I need to get a lot better

So,is the difference between the Switch and Wii U version big? from what I've seen... not really. there is a noticeable difference in graphics but it's not like the Wii U version looks completely terrible.

I think the way they stream the world in both creates different areas in each system where the framerate chugs a bit in order to connect everything
