I normally would hate the weapon breaking mechanic, but it really does make me think of the best way to approach an area, what weapons the enemies have and if it is even worth fighting them to get it, and how I can beat them using the environment or my runes. Oh, man. Tell me about it. There's a pack of like four or five Bokoblins in between the Duelling Peaks and it took me like six tries to finally kill the lot of them.

Beat the game this morning. My thoughts {Spoiler}{Spoiler} I truly loved the open world-ness of this hyrule. I always got excited to see what i might stumble into and would always find an place of interest while exploring. Liked the shrines for the most part, but after a while it got a little old. While i enjoy the concept of how to beatthe divine beasts, only the desert one felt like a challenge trying to figure out how to get to where you needed to. It also had the only real difficult boss of the game in thunder ganon, and that's only cause of less hearts and powers compared to the others. Also while i liked tracking down your memories as they gave great background on the story and zelda, i thought you would get a special weapon or armour for doing so. The ending was a little dull too. Finally this might be my favourite depiction of princess zelda yet. She's adorable and works herself to the bone to discover her powers, while dealing with her own insecurities. Overall 8.75/10

I really hope the DLC doesn't take too horribly long to come out. I beat all the shrines and the game as a whole a few days ago but have still been in the mood to play it, with no desire at all to sink a ton of time into the Koroks sidequest.

I'm guessing both of those are placeholder dates, yeah. Just kind of a shorthand for, "During the summer," and, "Before the end of the year."

Lynels...
Should I even bother? I get wrecked every time I even try, so I am wondering if it's even worth it.

Having played this a considerable number of hours, its a testament to this game's credit that it takes various elements from the 3D Zeldas since OoT (sidequest focus in MM, mass exploration & enemy weapon use from WW, epic scale boss battles from TP, numerous elements from SS) and effectively melds them into a wonderfully open setting and gameplay format. Skyward Sword especially really feels like a dry run (with hit and miss execution) of the things Breath of the Wild does well: stamina, collection of elements/fruits/wildlife for crafting, and high altitude flight.
While its going to be a long wait, I'm really curious to see how various other Zelda elements and can be built on top of the foundation laid here; something like masks with different effects (perhaps to be upgraded and or breakable) alone could be amazing in an open world like this one.

Lynels... Should I even bother? I get wrecked every time I even try, so I am wondering if it's even worth it. A lot of upgrades need Lynel bits, so depends on whether or not you care that much about upgrading armour. I avoided them until I was better equipped but even now with a full load of hearts, strong armour, weapons with 75 attack points and the upgraded bows, some of the higher level Lynels are still potentially devastating. Here's a slightly cheap way to give you an edge over them... Wait for them to charge, hit them with stasis. Whilst they're stopped, fire a elemental arrow at their face to stun them, then you can get behind them and mount them to do a lot of damage. Once your stasis has recharged, repeat.

Ok, what dickhead decided to only give this game one f***ing save file? i know you can switch users on the Wii U and give yourself another save file but that's inconvenient. Why not just have more than one save file?

Why not just have more than one save file? It isn't like every previous version of Zelda had three save spots. I don't get it.

I'm enjoying the hell out of this game, but I don't think it's the "10/10 MASTERPIECE!" that a few hyped it up to be. I think the shrines and divine beasts are easily the worst parts of the game. I've finished two of the four divine beasts and absolutely dread doing the other two. I just think they're uninteresting and the boss fights are awful. Wandering around and the side quests are much, much better than the main quest.
Another problem I'm having is that I still feel a little lost/overwhelmed and I'm quite a bit into the game. As far as weapons and armor are concerned, I feel like I've made very little progress. I have the Master Sword, but the game has trained me to be terrified of using every weapon due to it breaking.
Also, can you actually kill the drone and "crawler" guardians that run/fly around ruining things? f*** these guys especially.

So we just got our first update (well, not including the one that was released the same time as the game) and according to rumours it's just a small update to fix a few frame-rate issues.

A Moblin just picked up a Bokoblin and threw him at my head.
Man, even all these hours in and I see things I've never seen before
