I mean...wouldn’t you do the same? Only if Tom Hardy is the one whose face is on the money.

How long until the “Rotten Tomatoes is biased” f***witts turn up? RT embargo is lifted at 7:30pm Pacific, so the first tweets in reaction will go live at 7:30:15.000.

And they still won’t understand that RT is just an aggregator in its simplest form. Then somehow they’ll translate that as biased and “pro-Marvel/anti-DC”.

Well the prevailing theory right now is that the only people who want Venom to fail are "MCU Stans". And it’s utterly moronic. I know it’s been said a million times already but the problem with the more recent DC films is they’re just not good enough (with the obvious exception of Wonder Woman). The only way Marvel/Disney are in any way to “blame” is because they (for the most part) consistently make enjoyable super hero films. And now we have a Marvel film from a non-Disney studio and if any of those films under-perform, then they’ll bring out the anti-Disney argument again.

Wonder Woman isnt even that good, criticising it just gets you lynched for other reasons.
I was hoping this would be alright, so I could look forward to a Morbius film. Shame it appears to not be alright at all

And even beyond that, just because you dislike one doesn't mean you necessarily like the other. Like yeah, I certainly like way more Marvel movies than I do the current wave of DC ones even adjusting for the difference in numbers and I'm looking forward to Avengers 4 way the hell more than anything DC has coming up (though granted part of that is I am literally incapable of watching Shazam - I just can't do it, it just pisses me off on a base level when someone calls him that instead of Captain Marvel), but I'm also pretty tired of the Marvel formula and there are a good few of the movies I've either disliked or just plain decided not to bother watching. And really end of the day, I honestly care a lot more about DC's heroes than I do Marvel's. Which is why it bothers me that Wonder Woman aside they can't seem to stop f***ing them up.

What I find most baffling about it is how thin-skinned a lot of these fanboys are, and are totally unable to accept that all movies have flaws, and maybe they like a movie that has more flaws than most. Some of my favourite movies are absolute garbage, and rightly got eviscerated by critics and moviegoers alike. I still love them in spite of their flaws (and because of them, in some cases). I don't go accusing critics of having an agenda, nor do I insult them for their opinions. Similarly, I don't harass people involved with the productions for ruining a movie I didn't like, nor go on a two-year campaign trying to hassle a studio into releasing an alternate version. They're f***ing movies, for Christssake.

They're f***ing movies, for Christssake. That last line there is one of the things that a lot of comic book fans do and really, really pisses me off. Hey comic book fans, studios do not make big money film adaptations of comic books just for you. In fact, you’re probably the last type of person they care about as they see you as a guaranteed audience anyway. They make these films to cater for the everyday person on the street. The type of person who doesn’t really give a shit if they change a slight detail from the source material. The type of person who just wants to put down their cash and be entertained for a couple of hours. For the most part the Marvel films do this really well, they entertain the masses and throw in the occasional piece of fan service for the more hardcore fans out there. That’s why they’re ridiculously succcessful. And whilst I do think the superhero genre is over-saturated at the moment, when these films are making billions at the box office, it’s obvious why they keep making them. And when I say “comic book fans”, I’m obviously not putting all comic-book fans into this category. I’m talking about the ones who feel they are owed a debt by filmmakers purely because they read the originals.

This one really snuck up on me. I couldn’t give two shits about other people’s opinions on movies, but it certainly doesn’t look like a classic, based on the trailers. I’ll probably check it out at some point, but my hopes aren’t high.
I should note that I ended up agreeing with the critics that said Justice League and Suicide Squad were bad, though I did enjoy Batman v Superman.
Oh and that god awful Fantastic Four reboot disappointment.

Plus I feel like capturing the spirit of a work in an adaptation is more important than one-to-one accuracy with it anyway. This is why even though Batman Returns has a TON of issues (seriously, that movie is a goddamn mess), everyone is written out of character, and Batman kills people, I still love it because it feels like a Batman story should to me.

The idea of DC fans floating the Spider-Less-Verse just to spite Marvel/Disney is hilarious on so many levels. Will the Snyder Cut truthers shift their priorities to a Rated R Venom cut now?

Okay, I thought it was a typo for 'stain' when the first person said it but what the f*** is a 'stan'? Besides an instant way to make you sound like a moron trying to insult someone with it?

I think it’s a term used to describe an obsessive, delusional, sometimes dangerous fan. It comes from the Eminem track Stan.

Well, the "don't listen to the biased critics" argument has gotten off to a weird start... I read that "A Star Is Born" has been getting some surprisingly great reviews and a lot of people I know personally has been asking me about it. As an employee at a movie theatre several customers have come in talking about it too. Thinking this might be a surprise hit actually.

But in all seriousness, why would Marvel/Disney want "Venom" to fail? To be fair at least the conspiracy theory with the DCEU kind of made sense and held water given the potential it had. But the Spidey-verse from Sony? Where was the upside? No Spider-Man involved within the origin of Venom, no Tom Holland, characters such as Silver Sable, Aunt May, and Spider-Gwen receiving potential films and spin-offs that no one was asking for.
At least fans were asking for a DCEU whereas NO ONE asked for a Sony Marvel Universe.

Personally much rather see ASIB than Venom, but in any case it’s weird anyone would think those films are competing for the same audience.

The first teaser of Venom made me interested, then I saw the second trailer, and the third trailer which made me go "Uh, nope." It literally looks awful and the trailer overall didn't make it look any better. For all the crap the recent FF4 received at least the trailers attempted to make it look somewhat decent, I guess?
