Gotta say, if I was going to spend such a large amount of money for something that doesn't even sound like fun if it were going as planned, I'd probably hold out for better acts than Ja Rule and Tyga. Blink-182 would be fun to see live, but even they aren't worth $400 minimum. Off topic, but I saw blink-182 live a few months ago. It was awesome, but it's not the same without Tom DeLonge.

So they didn't get to see Blink 182. Good, they'd already suffered enough!

I've been following this outside of the board. Forgive me for maybe not getting other's opinions, but I don't understand the mindset of "Haha, rich people paid for tickets and were lied too, they deserve it!"
I mean, it is funny in a dark sense of what's actually happening, but I'm just not understanding the "Haha, they deserve it for being rich!"

I mean.... really?
Just two slices of cheese? Come on. Should have at least been three slices. Maybe four? Five is just overkill.

I mean, it is funny in a dark sense of what's actually happening, but I'm just not understanding the "Haha, they deserve it for being rich!" The joke is more in relation to the way overblown reaction by the people who went to the festival. It was painfully clear from their reactions on social media that this was probably the first "hardship" they really faced. (hardship in the loosest sense of the word. Really it was just less than a day's worth of mild inconvenience) So it's less that just that they're rich but more that people attending an event designed to cater to the luxuriously wealthy/sheltered from anything resembling the real world panicked to a preposterous degree when they had to encounter it for a scant few hours. The situational irony is as rich as the festival goers.

See, I get what happened. The organizers saw the train wreck that was DashCon, and pulled a collective "here, hold mah beer" moment.

They never collectivly went "this sounds a bit too impossible to be true" and plunked down a shitload of money. There was zero sense shown by both the ticketbuyers and the people running it.

The situational irony is as rich as the festival goers. Frankly, it is funny that a group of, yes, rich people buying tickets to be "influencers" hanging around with models on the beach or one of multiple yachts took about 4 hours to turn into savages setting fires and stealing things. Made me think of this.

The good news is that Ja has announced that Fyre Festival 2 will go ahead next year.
The bad news is that it's at Altamont Speedway and the Hells Angels are providing security.

We also laugh at other people taking a kick between the legs. Not much difference here. And as others have pointed out, the humor really ore derives from the absurd hissy fits that were thrown. You'd swear none of these people ever went to boyscout camp.
