I just find it crazy that there actually people out there who can legit drop 12 k on a festival. I need to meet these people. It's the "My Super Sweet Sixteen" type of people. Rich parents who indulge their every demand.

Apparently the organisers have been hit with a 100 mill lawsuit for fraud, which is pretty much the cherry on this shit sundae.
I still say this is on that one guy, but it's going to be the generation defining disaster for people currently between 18-25, isn't it?

If Fyre Festival was a social experiment, I can't wait for the followups in Aleppo and Mogadishu!

Well I can't help but laugh at how its been revealed that the organizers were morons who wasted the vast majority of the festival's budget by both hiring models and having extravagant parties on private yachts in order to promote it.

We also laugh at other people taking a kick between the legs. Not much difference here. And as others have pointed out, the humor really ore derives from the absurd hissy fits that were thrown. You'd swear none of these people ever went to boyscout camp. It isn't even because they're rich. It's because they're complete douchebags about it. These are the kinds of people who look down at the "poors" as inferior, second-class subhumans for not being born into money, if you look at their past twitter and instagram history. Basically, modern day aristocrats. There are probably some decent people who treat others right sprinkled among the scummery, and I hope they have enough sense to make their way to the relatively close-by safety. Rest of them, though? f*** 'em. Seeing these people taken down a peg or five warms the black cockles of my heart. You know the film Elysium where the rich and privileged live in space on a utopia and everyone else lives on earth which is desolate? We're getting closer to that actually happening.

Based on spending habits I've observed from a distance, it's not that crazy to me when you are surrounded by people who have spent 12K on video games, DVDs, and CDs that just sit around and take up storage space, essentially unused after their initial purchase. There are other things I could add to that list, but just keeping it at that, a great number of your fellow forum users blow 12K on unused movie, music, video game entertainment. I get your point. Not refuting what you meant by it and not twisting your words. But wanted to add some perspective to some who might be reading and forgetting to look in the mirror at times. Before the "but that's not a single purchase" argument comes up, the point is that it's blowing money either way. Showing up for Fyre Festival was at least an attempt to get something out of it. It's not like making a purchase and then no-showing as a consumer.

Based on spending habits ...... a great number of your fellow forum users blow 12K on unused movie, music, video game entertainment. Yeah, in their lifetime. This is still a single weekend. Or was. There's no normal spending habit that includes 12k festivals one week and indie wrestling the next, so it's hard to relate. Unless you're Brock Lesnar fan, but it's generally accepted that he's a douchenozzle. Easier to justify spending $60 on a video game or festival ticket, where if it is not as advertised, you're out a few hours of work and can be upset at the lost investment. And hey, it's cool for those almost-festival goers to be upset, but it's hard to feel sorry for them. Some have adopted irl heel personas on Instagram, rubbing it in other's faces that they could afford to even be a part of the fiasco. Like it's a badge of honor to spend that kind of money, fail and then get on their yacht to mope about it.

I'm sorry, $12K in unused media?
Are there people who buy movies, music & games and just...NEVER use them at all?
Every movie or album I've purchased I've watched/listened to multiple times over the lifespan of owning them.
Is this like a thing? Like a "its common knowledge that people buy a shit ton of stuff and never watch/read/listen to it" kinda thing that I'm unfamiliar with?
