This is so messed up and yet I cannot help laughing at the absurdity of it all. The contrast between the organizers' high ambitions and their utter lack of competence and resources is astonishing. I do hope everyone gets home safely and gets a refund, though.

I've been following this outside of the board. Forgive me for maybe not getting other's opinions, but I don't understand the mindset of "Haha, rich people paid for tickets and were lied too, they deserve it!" I mean, it is funny in a dark sense of what's actually happening, but I'm just not understanding the "Haha, they deserve it for being rich!" For me it's more "Haha, they deserve it for spending several thousands of their dollars to sink into a scam music festival that's going to **** over poor foreign countries even more...and they don't even have the life skills to make the best out of shady situation while in a place I'd never get to no matter how hard I work!" Odds are if you have that much money to blow on some hangout with a celebrity the calibre of JA RULE....IN THE YEAR OF YOUR METALLIC GOD, TWO THOUSAND AND SEVENTEEN? It's likely you're the corny-ass idle rich who does stuff like this fairly often, who I generally have no sympathy for. However, I'm sure you've got some decent people sprinkled in there who put together the money just to experience being near celebrities the calibre of JA RULE...IN 2017... That's why I can also be happy that at least these people are getting help to get back mainland.

Like.....dressing up in leather and getting mohawks? Like Dashcon if you replace "ballpit" with "moshpit" By the way, I'm not even sure if this batch of first world problems is real, but her twitter does have a load of videos of beach resorts on it, so quite possibly serious. That...that has to be a parody, right? No way is that person for real.

I mean.... really? Just two slices of cheese? Come on. Should have at least been three slices. Maybe four? Five is just overkill.

For me the humor is in not identifying with the type of person willing and able to spend $12,000 to hang with other rich people, away from those pesky normal people, on an island. Working a full time job and finishing my undergrad degree as a full time student, I do not have the time or money to attend such an event, and checking out the lineup, that's a good thing. Also Blink-182, who I have no problem with, but they look like the token rock act on a lineup of trap and rap acts, which is an entirely different source of humor. Then there was the advertising, which was essentially corporate buzzwords plastered onto video of wealthy models, selling you on "the experience." I wouldn't have gone if the price was $200, $20 or free, but as a critic of the current festival culture of the past decade, this is awesome in it's own way.
Reading about the overreactions of people able to spend thousands on a festival ticket, but unable to walk fifteen minutes to the nearest hotel, knowing they can afford the comfortability; I have a hard time empathizing. This does read like a massive troll job, even if Ja Rule is vehemently denying responsibility for the cheese sandwiches.

I just like, not literal, car wrecks myself. Does that mean I'm kind of an ass? Probably. But hey it's not like anyone died in the end and it gave us another legendary story to tell. So I guess the promoters were on point about one thing, they are Legends.

Man, can you believe these entitled Millennials whining about mild inconveniences? Someone passed out at the airport? That's not that big a deal if you ask me. I doubt it was just because of the heat - if so, people would've been passing out in droves. Someone passed out on the subway I was on last week and it wasn't exactly inhuman conditions. It happens in stuffy areas with some people. Especially if they were partying too hard. The guards opened the door shortly after and let air in so it wasn't as dramatic as it was made out to be in the news. Again - for the most part it was largely people complaining about mild inconveniences. That same account was complaining the food and rooms weren't "luxurious" enough or that there wasn't any beer. The over-reaction they had to the kinds of travel mishaps regular folks have is still hilarious to me.

People love to laugh at their financial betters. We also laugh at other people taking a kick between the legs. Not much difference here. And as others have pointed out, the humor really ore derives from the absurd hissy fits that were thrown. You'd swear none of these people ever went to boyscout camp. It isn't even because they're rich. It's because they're complete douchebags about it. These are the kinds of people who look down at the "poors" as inferior, second-class subhumans for not being born into money, if you look at their past twitter and instagram history. Basically, modern day aristocrats. There are probably some decent people who treat others right sprinkled among the scummery, and I hope they have enough sense to make their way to the relatively close-by safety. Rest of them, though? f*** 'em. Seeing these people taken down a peg or five warms the black cockles of my heart.

I can't help but laugh at the overreactions. If your rich enough to afford the tickets then surely they've got enough to book into an alternate hotel on the island?
I once got stranded in the middle of rural Bangladesh with no money, no bank card and little food whilst cycling around the country after my wallet was lost and I didn't react half as bad as these rich idiots stuck on a tropical island a stones throw away from another resort. I just cycled to the nearest main road and thumbed a lift back to Dhaka and civilisation where I could get shit sorted out.
