www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article/39743303/luxury-fyre-festival-is-cancelled-with-ticket-holders-still-stranded-in-bahamasBasically, this festival on the Bahamas with Ja Rule, blink-182 and Tyga planned to play there has turned into a Dashcon level Clusterf*** twitter.com/search?q=fyre+festivalIt was intended to be some festival pretty much about massive consumption. Tickets between $400 and $12k, tents on a private beach island, expensive catering, a rumored $100k worth of buried treasure planted around etc Attendees arrived to a half constructed festival, with "luxury" catering that turned out to be cheese sandwiches, skeleton crew, tents that turned out to be leftover disaster tents from an earthquake supply, blink 182 not performing because they took one look and bounced right out again, basically nothing going right. Now the US Embassy has had to step in, people are getting robbed, flights in and out are being cancelled left and right, and people are tweeting for help because they're stranded. Yikes.

Oh you've given me something to do all night while I work. These tweets are perfect. Sucks for those involved though. This is like epic levels of messed up.

I've been laughing at this all day.
The tweet responses alone are worth it.
Few things funnier than seeing the wealthy over-dramatize a moderate inconvenience to their flaccid attempt at showcasing their version of decadence.
I hope this is the work of Nathan4You.

Gotta say, if I was going to spend such a large amount of money for something that doesn't even sound like fun if it were going as planned, I'd probably hold out for better acts than Ja Rule and Tyga. Blink-182 would be fun to see live, but even they aren't worth $400 minimum.

Not to be Old Man Grandpa or anything, but this is the perfect encapsulation of what we're doing wrong in society. Constantly buying into hype that is impossible to live up to. If the story I read from someone who actually worked on Fyre Festival is right, this was sold on the hype, and organizers just figured it'd somehow all work out in the end...of course on the strength of the people they'd hired and planned on not paying shit for.
I love Millennials, I love that they're willing to not be pushed around by the generations before them, but man, sometimes they make really bad decisions, especially when they're trust fund babies. And the mentality of "fake it until you make it" is one that I'd be happy to see die a quick death.

It's not millennials as a generation chief (because millennials are on average, poor) it's the rich idiot millennials making the same mistakes of the past, only with more of an emphasis on being loud and the center of attention. There have been amazing shit shows all throughout human history, it's just now we can laugh at it in real time.

They banked on selling way more of the stupidly priced tickets than they did, and tried to power through with no money when not many people bought one. themuse.jezebel.com/fyre-festival-was-such-a-shit-show-i-didn-t-even-make-1794757121 Some articles are indicating a total scam washout too. I will say though that they're 15 minutes walk away from a town and hotels, and they're acting like they're abandoned in the woods even though they're pretty much on a regular camping trip right now.

Some say Ja never was quite the same after losing the opportunity for that threesome with Monica.
