People still talk about the Snyder movies, they won't be talking about this in a couple of months. Friendly reminder Snyder contributed a great deal to the story of the first WW movie y'all remember so fondly. People still talk about the Green Lantern movie, too. Doesn't mean it's for the right reasons. Lady Bird came out in 2017, was nominated for five Academy Awards and won two Golden Globes. Nobody really talks about it anymore. The Room came out in 2003, is often regarded as one of the worst films ever made, and there are people who can quote it word for word damn near. I know staying power has it's place, but I promise you, a bad movie we still talk about is not inherently better than a good movie that we don't.

I finally worked up the attention span to watch it. I can see why a lot of people hate it. Personally, I didn't think it was as bad as I've seen some make it out to be. It wasn't in the same galaxy as the original, it was boring in parts, and it's way too long, the plot was kinda messy, but it's not awful. I've read some comparisons to Suicide Squad and in no way did I think it was as bad as that movie.
I'd give it a 6/10.

It’s getting blasted by some people for it’s portrayal of Arabs. Rightfully so IMO. Yeah, the more I think about it, their portrayal was just a smidge problematic.

Really enjoyed this movie. It has so much heart and really reminds me of the Donner Superman movies. It was said in prior posts but I really like how Patty just kinda straight up ignores BvS and a lot of what Zack has said or implied about the character Wiig really surprised me. I actually loved her as Barbara. Pascal stole the show imo. Just fantastic stuff from him as usual Gal was once again great as Wonder Woman. Should go without saying really. One of my favourite parts of this movie {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Diana flying. It was so cool to finally her do that. And seeing Lynda Carter was just great

On the subject of the more problematic things in the film, {Spoiler}can we talk about the weird as hell thing that was the Indian dude pretending to be Mayan, but due to his mail being addressed to "Frank Patel", he was actually Indian? Like, just...why?

Really enjoyed this movie. It has so much heart and really reminds me of the Donner Superman movies. To the point it rips them off wholesale.

Jenkins has said she'd be down to direct a Superman. To that I say hell yeah. Keep Cavill on board, give him the chance to be more of the classic Superman he wants to do anyway. Hell yeah.
Also they just announced that WW3 is getting fast tracked with her still on board.

Not surprising, she's been upfront about going ahead and doing prep-work for it while this one's release was being delayed.

deadline.com/2020/12/wonder-woman-1984-opening-weekend-box-office-hbo-max-christmas-1234661767/Movie did $16.7 million for its opening weekend. By far the biggest opening for a movie during the pandemic, with the second place being Croods at $9.7 million, though obviously way below the first one. Honestly I can't wrap my head around the idea of going to the theater to see a movie during a pandemic when watching it from home was both an available option and likely the cheaper one, but I guess some people don't have decent Internet or prefer the theater experience.

It's still bizarre as hell to me that movie theaters are still open.
Also, lol @ the headline saying it was an 84% drop from the first movie's debut. Like, no shit?

Had I not been at mom's on Christmas and discovered she had HBO Max, I had initially planned on goin to the local Cinemark today as their noon showing was $8.75 so it'd be cheaper than HBO. Some people going may be doing that.

Patty is locked in to direct a Star Wars movie. Aquaman 2, Flash, Shazam 2, Black Adam are all in various stages of production hell, AT&T are laying off more and more people within WB too, add in the present drama with the streaming options that Patty has publicly criticised, and the split opinion of the movie's quality experienced both here and elsewhere, and this third entry will have a steep hill to climb to justify both it's expense, it's faith from the studio, and win back the crowds it's clearly been losing with this movie.

I will say that even though I'm certainly down for a third movie, the Amazons spinoff movie is a giant pile of, "Why?" to me. They served their purpose well in the first movie but they kind of rightfully ditched them when it was time to do so, cutting them out of Justice League hurt nothing, and they were basically entirely pointless in 1984.

Felt the same when they announced a horror film about the Trench from Aquaman. Who gives a f*** about that?
