They should just kill her off and bring the show back next season as "The Connors". I know it isn't likely, but I'm just really bummed to see the show end for the sake of John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf, because they were so fun.

It would actually be within the sense of humor of the original show to just rotate in a new actor to play the character of "Roseanne" every episode. Wanda Sykes, then Jane Lynch, then Bryan Cranston, then David Hyde Pierce, then Megan Mullalley...

I literally had this exact thought earlier, but I wonder if they would be able to even do it with Roseanne having a credit as creator. I have no idea how that works. Bow, I'm a fan of Bill Maher and this has nothing to do with earlier discussion, but he ended a recent show with a discussion about Roseanne. I'm almost positive that he mentioned something about Roseanne already holding up ABC for more money with the success of the new season. I have to wonder, as nuts as she is, if they refused and this was done intentionally on her part to either get away from ABC or even away from the show.

If this was an intentional attempt to get away from ABC it is one of the most idiotic things I've ever seen done to that. But then. no one ever said that Roseanne Barr was very intelligent.

Oh, I don't disagree at all but things she's said and done even long before twitter clearly indicate that she doesn't care what people think about her and to a terrible extent. Then you read stories of the way that she treated cast and crew during the original show's run, to the extent Goodman left the show and refused to work with her for a period of time... Obviously it was just an assumption on my part and could be way off base.

How long before the "When will Roseanne be back?" threads start up, with wars between those who forgive her, and those who say to keep her away from TV forever?

This whole event is a reminder: Freedom of speech means you are free to speak and the government won't arrest you. It's not freedom from consequences.

All I can say was I wish I heard the news earlier in the day,I would have gone to Target/Walmart and other place and bought up a bunch of Roseanne Series DVD's cause those things are gonna get pulled from the shelves soon and anyone who owns copies will be able to sell them for big profit at the same prices as other Banned and Out of Print movies,tv shows and or records.

She's blamed Ambien for the tweet. The tweets roasting her where people are listing all the stuff they've done on Ambien, are f***ing hilarious.

Good for ABC, but...they knew who they were getting in to bed with.
And I guess they probably had this nuclear option all ready to go in case something like this happened. Still...this is the biggest huge deal to zero since Del Rio.
I do feel bad for the other people involved making the show, though. Sara Gilbert was the main driving force in getting the show back, too, so she's gotta feel personally hugely let down by this.

The best reaction I've seen is Nash from Radio Dead Air talking about the time he took ambien and got mad at a talk radio show he was listening to for ignoring his responses. He then pointed out that at no point did ambien turn him into a racist. also, this

On the first one, the big difference is being able to talk about one's perspectives and beliefs without being a whackaloon bigoted conspiracy theorist. A comedian can even make fun of a certain group(s) without being bigoted about it in the process. On the second one, nah, the networks don't really care whom somebody supports politically so long as the talent can still make them money. ABC is probably furious over this because they had a big hit on their hands, likely coming with plenty of advertising dollars, but now it's back to the drawing board. Sadly, back to the drawing board = something else we can remake. All right, the perfect time to pitch my remake of Automan.

So many people losing checks isn't cool. There has to be other ways to punish negative comments. Like pulling re runs even takes away residuals from the people who probably need that source of income. It's bogus.
Burying the show isn't gonna hurt Roseanne nearly as much as everyone else Not named Goodman. There has to be other ways to handle this shit. Im not ok with it. She was always tweeting shit like this even before the show was revived.
She should have been fined or something and if viewers or sponsor chose to leave then take away peoples income.

The TV networks have to do what's in their best interests, not what's in the best interests of the cast. You aren't guaranteed that your show is going to be in reruns after it ends- a lot of shows aren't. Rosanne has been in syndication for 25 years at this point- it had a very long run. Longer than a lot of shows in syndication.
