They just handwave the end away. In fact it starts off by joking about it and I think they referenced it once more as well. Was that the bit from the commercials with Dan in the sleep apnea mask asking why everyone thinks he's dead? That was cute and as simple a brush off as is probably needed... Curious to see how they deal with the 2 Beckys...

Becky #1 didn't age at all. Can't believe she's 44.

I thought it was pretty funny. Some good laughs on both shows.
They handled the political aspect well. They didn't come at it from one side so you feel you're having a specific agenda forced on you.
I'm guessing the level of politics they discuss going forward will probably want.

I just watched them and thought they were both great episodes. The political stuff kind of annoyed me at first but it was handled well, and only lasted one episode.

Awful show starring an awful woman. I could take a lot of the awful political junk if Roseanne wasn't an actual lunatic/racist in real life.
That's my awful review of this revival.

You can tell most of this cast hasn't acted in forever,Darlene's daughter and Jackie seemed like the only one's not reading off a cue card.

18.2 million viewers. That’s a very strong showing.

I grew up in a working class family. Watched Roseanne from when it started until it ended. And besides that horrible last season I loved it. But that last season and the reveal in the final episode killed my love of the show.
Skip ahead to 2004 or so,and Nick at Nite is airing every night for a few hours. My wife and I would watch it pretty much every night. Then when the show started getting released to DVD we bought those.
Was excited for the reboot last night. Watched it not long after it aired. My only complaint is there was no mention of Jackie's kid Andy. I liked how they handled that last season.
As far as David, heard he is only in one episode. Mostly cause of him being busy with BBT.

I will say, whether I watch this or not (probably going to wait and hear how the rest of the season goes, for a variety of reasons, before I decide), that it has always had a fantastic cast. Laurie Metcalf in particular is pretty wonderful.

I missed the beginning. How did they explain Dan?

I missed the beginning. How did they explain Dan? They are pretty much saying season 9 never happened. Right at the beginning you had Roseanne trying to wake up Dan. "I thought you were dead" she tells him and he makes a comment like "Why does everyone think that.". Then later on in the episode Dan and Roseanne are out in the garage. He picks up a script she has written and says something like "It was good until you killed off the best character." So yea they are ignoring the final season. Just like how in the last episode of season 9 Becky and Mark are talking about if they should tell the family she is pregnant. On this new season Becky hasn't had a kid.

Jackie is hilarious. I looked past the political stuff, and enjoyed the reboot

Roseanne is a mentally unstable flawed person... like a LOT of other comedians. She might also be the best female comedian ever.

Watched it last night and loved it. People are making a big deal about the politics but that’s real life. My father and I are on complete opposite ends of the political spectrum, and we have some arguements about it. But above all we love each other, and that trumps everything else.
The fact that it completely wipes Season 9 from the canon makes me exceedingly happy.

I was really worried about the political stuff tainting it, but thankfully they handled it really well. Acting was a bit stiff in the first episode, but everyone was back in the groove for the second one, and it felt just like old times.
