I don’t see this show lasting too long, or a ratings juggernaut but it deserves a chance to at least fail on its own merit and not abruptly cancelled due to one person. So there’s no “ what if’s”

If the show ends with Dan Connor becoming the head of air conditioning repair school in Colorado, this venture will be worth it.

Roseanne comes back as a puppet and no one acknowledges this Mr. Floppy from 'Unhappily Ever After' replaces Roseanne's character, even in love scenes with Dan Connor, and literally nobody acts as if anything has changed from S1 of the reboot. Bonus it would revitalize Bobcat Goldthwait's career!

I wish Unhappily Ever After was being rerun on a channel I get. I didn't start watching it until the next to last season.

We get Law and Order on 20 channels, but can't get Unhappily Ever After on one? I should have bought the DVD set of the complete series when I saw it at a con a few years ago. But the guy wanted 60 bucks and I had no way to test the discs.

We've replaced Roseanne with a grizzly bear. Let's see if anyone notices the difference.
Dan: "Honey, I'm home."
Bear: "RAAAAAARGH!"
Dan: "Nicer reception than I usually get."

Hell, we don’t even get reruns of Two Guys, A Girl and a Pizza Place, and that had Ryan Reynolds and Nathan Fillion.

This will get at least two seasons- the first season of 10 episodes, and a second of 13 before ABC would even think about bailing on it.

Here's something I still ponder over. I'm not defending Roseanne by any means...and I know about the previous discussion about that HBO comedian's routine. But really...what about the shows and comedians that make fun of people in other walks of life, or the other side of the coin politically? And more often than not it still is all about looks. If you lived in New Jersey the last couple of years you know what I mean. There was no shortage of size jokes and slams about a certain major character here, for instance.
Yes, some of it is "just a show" unlike Roseanne, but then again, many shows get inspiration from real feelings.

One of our local radio stations talked about this the other day...basically saying certain kinds of states didn't watch the first reboot season anyway, and other kinds of states won't after all this. But yeah, cutting out a central character is usually not a good idea. To that end, if it flops because of this or the other things, would ABC cut its losses and call it a day? Or would money and pride take over? /Sue Heck spinoff. Something we can all agree on. //Hint, hint.

The new show will probably last a season. You need two elements for true nostalgia to work. You need the same chemistry and you need the same players. Roseanne had all of that working for it. Roseanne was the only show to beat Cosby in the ratings back in the day. Now they can’t bring the real Roseanne show back. They obviously can’t bring the Cosby show back either for that matter. I know a lot of networks are looking for that nostalgia factor but they’d be lucky to find that chemistry and all the players available willing to do it. Keep in mind that few shows had that level of popularity. I like all the other characters from the Roseanne show but it just won’t be the same. There are a lot of famous bands out there still touring but most of the them have a different member or members in there now and people just don’t care as much anymore. The dynamic has changed. The sound is a bit different. The look is different. The chemistry is different. The real nostalgia just isn’t there anymore.

The reboot broke canon already by bringing Dan back from the dead. I can't see it being that much of a stretch to shift the focus to Darlene who, let's face it, grew up in front of us as a mini-Roseanne clone anyway. The nearest precedent for this was "The Hogan Family," formerly "Valerie." Give the series a few episodes for the "events" to occur and the fallout from them to play out, then things return to what passes for normal in a family like the Conners. The partisan political stuff gets thrown out; instead it's replaced with the same "A plague on both your Houses" sentiment that made the first series work for everyone. The cast won't let the series fall if it can at all help it.

DVD-wise, UHA too. I was thinking it is more of a low demand for those two series on DVD issue. How many people even remember either show? And out of the ones that remember them, how many are going to buy them on DVD? According to reports I have read the market for TV shows on DVD/Blu Ray has bottomed out. With only stuff like Netflix originals,HBO originals and stuff like that selling.
