DDP was far superior, but Orton has come so far from the days of jumping past Jericho and delivering an RKO to air and has made it really his own and unique.

Orton. It actually feels like a WHAM shot out of nowhere.
DDP's outside of a few notable occasions felt laboured and telegraphed to me, but then so did everything he did.

That's because unlike many other wrestlers DDP scripted all of his matches, which is what I heard the WWE did not like especially the Undertaker who refused to have a scripted match with him

I think Orton has done some cool ones that weren't just people "jumping at him". He did the Ziggler one where he countered the fameasser and threw him up in the air. He did the Del Rio one where he was going for the kick in the corner and kinda "fell" into an RKO. He did the best one ever when he countered the Curb Stomp and Mania and threw Seth in the air. Turned a chokeslam into one vs Taker.

That's because unlike many other wrestlers DDP scripted all of his matches, which is what I heard the WWE did not like especially the Undertaker who refused to have a scripted match with him Wasn’t Savage the same way? Savage would lay out and rehearse big matches. DDP would give detailed written instructions for every match which ticked off a lot of veterans. Basically going up to Taker and saying "this is the match I can work" isn't going to endear you. WWE could have used how over he was better but he was never going to last outside of latter era WCW. In a micromanaged, extremely produced product, DDP didn't fit. Savage was also just overflowing with charisma and manic energy which meant everything seemed extemporaneous. Page for all his qualities isn't even in the same universe.

And, of course, the greatest Diamond Cutter of them all. ![](https://i.imgur.com/EYbHK7D.gif) Came in here to post this. Glad to see someone beat me to it. Literally this is THE best Face vs Face match ever booked, and the only time I actually thought Goldberg would legit lose, clean.

Page's Diamond Cutter always looked more impactful, actually driving his opponent's head down to the mat. The RKO has more snap to it and looks flashier but looks a lot weaker too.

DDP gets points for coming up with the outta nowhere deal, but Orton is way more fluid in the ring than DDP ever was.

Yea DDP with the Diamond Cutter was built up big out of nowhere or how he could use different variations of it I remember the match he had against The Giant (Big Show) was built on how DDP built up a variant of the Diamond Cutter to take down the Giant ![](https://pa1.narvii.com/5722/d21ae8626d9eb22191ab398cfcfff64d955825a8_hq.gif) Still my favorite Diamond Cutter of all time. I watched that as it aired and about jumped out of my seat. The RKO has nothing on the Diamond Cutter. The only time the RKO looks great is due to the other person (Evan Bourne, Seth Rollins) otherwise it's very contrived in its set-up. The Diamond Cutter was a thing of beauty that DDP freaking mastered.

I'm biased, but Diamond Cutter. DDP had some truly innovative moments of hitting it that made me mark out.
The Jackhammer reversal at Halloween Havoc 1998 alone seals the deal for me.

Also part of the reason fans were excited about Orton vs Lesnar because it was assumed that man can do an RKO out of the F5.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember anyone kicking out of the Diamond Cutter. Goldberg I think did, but DDP didn't pin him straight away.

DDP was very protective of his finsiher I believe it was said he was pissed at Goldberg because he told him to wait as long as he could on the kickout and Goldberg kicked out as soon as 2 hit

I think my favorite one is the guy on the right who stands up as Goldberg goes for the Jackhammer, throws his arms up in celebration when DDP goes into the counter, and just starts shouting in absolute joy when the Diamond Cutter is hit. Fantastic.
