Officially been cancelled. And there was much rejoicing I didn't even know it made it to air.

Roar really demonstrates just how important a good first impression is. Like Rise of TMNT it never felt like it managed to shake off that initial dubious reputation (regardless of later quality) while COVID's impact on production combined with CN's usual nonsense doomed it. While I'll lament the 2011 reboot's cancellation far more than this one, I do hope the staff can get onto other projects (hopefully ones that learn not do repeat Roar's mistakes). Just give it to someone on Netflix, they have a MUCH better handle on 80s toon reboots. (waits and sees how Smith MOTU will turn out)

(waits and sees how Smith MOTU will turn out) She-Ra is a good compare/contrast with Thundercats as both got some initial antipathy but the former found an audience via the platform and the strength of its writing while the latter was never able to.

She-Ra is pretty terrible too IMO.

Roar wasn't really that bad honestly, I did like its cartoony look, it just suffered like all other Thundercats reboots have in finding an audience, not to mention being a show on CN that's not TTG, meaning it was never going to find that audience, even with that episode.

I didn't watch much of Roar... mainly since the first few episodes I saw I just... didn't find it funny. Hope the people involved can find other jobs, animation is tough... It was not cancelled due to low ratings... it was cancelled by... *drumroll* "Poor toy sales" Thanks 2010's CN.

Maybe next time they decide to reboot ThunderCats, they'll get someone who actually likes the franchise. Instead of someone who openly hated it because his brothers liked it. Yeah the punk openly said that he hated it and was doing it to spite his brothers.

Great, now every wack job that made petitions and were vocal about how much they hated the show will think they were the reason the show is being cancelled and will now try that on everything they don't like.
From what I saw, it was very ok but nothing mind blowing. I can give or take but I do think people hated it because it was another TTG and never gave it a chance.

Yeah, this pretty much screams that and from what I personally saw, the show was, at worst, completely fine and inoffensive.

He said he grew up watching it and it was a big deal to his brothers, but he felt some of it was quite silly and it lent itself to comedy. He actually comes across as a fan to me:

He actually comes across as a fan to me: Yeah, I remember watching that and never got any impression of that which is why I asked. As I’ve said before on here with this stuff, though, if these companies are going to keep these IPs for years, the least they (and fans) should be is open to interpretations of these ideas. Will they all work? No, but it’s better than just going back to basics and trying to copy and paste the show into 2020/21.

Yeah, I remember watching that and never got any impression of that which is why I asked. And he's not wrong, either. Some elements of the original show were absurdly silly. Granted, based on what I've seen of it I think Roar is a huge swing and a miss, and but the concept is sound enough.

Funny, just yesterday I'd randomly looked to see if the show had been cancelled yet.

In all honesty, Thundercats was never that good in the first place. Great designs&a killer opening but the show itself was eh.
