So they’ve remained it being called Smackdown Live, but it will be 3 hours on a Friday. That’s going to change the touring schedule pretty drastically.

I don't see anything actualyl saying 3 hours... other than the post saying it was... and them linking to a page that says no such thing.
But it'd mean 205 is no longer live.

Assuming they keep to four day work weeks, I could see them opting for Smackdown going Thurs-Sunday and Raw going Friday-Monday. That way, all of the brands are running live shows during the weekend. Where this would get interesting is stuff like Mania weekend. Since Smackdown is no longer on Tuesdays, they may opt to have the Smackdown before Mania in the host city instead of the Smackdown after Mania, with the Hall of Fame shifting to Thursday night to begin the weekend.

Or they'll just do what they did a few years back and tape a few matches for Smackdown before that weeks Raw and then have segments live from Access in between the matches

So we're going back to seagull pops, sandwiches, and ellipses in the spoiler threads?

Pretty sure that SDL isn't getting that 3hrs. That would completely change the landscape of Fox to a level that hasn't been seen in decades. Their programing doesn't work that way.

The only possible way SDL goes to 3 hours is if they do the first hour on FS1, which would be dumb unless it was a separate live show. There’s no way they get a 3 hour block on Fox proper.

But now that I think about it, whatever rating 205 could pull in on FS1 would more then likely be better then what FS1 averages in that slot so why the hell not?

Eh I don't a problem with this. Different demographics probably for those shows as opposed to those looking for wrestling. I doubt they'll be a juggernaut but honestly I think they'll so many more eyes on the product.

Well yeah and no. For total viewers, Smackdown has no chance. But in the rating department, SDL usually draws a 0.7-1.0 rating in the coveted 18-49 age bracket plus its live tv so viewers can’t skip the commercials. Plus with Fox backing and support, they could probably bump that rating up to 1.2 which would be by far the highest rating on a Friday night.

Yeah, the 0.7 it got last week would be pretty decent for Friday, looking at that. Consider the following, Blindspot got a 0.5 on that list, and it just got renewed for another season, so even if it just maintains that 0.7, Fox is going to be quite pleased.

And it's a TV rights deal so it's not like FOX can "cancel" Smackdown after 1 year.

If WWE uses SmackDown like they did in the late 90s when it was on UPN it could get them back to popularity it had Gonna be a pretty penny to ad time

I don't want this shit on Fridays! I travel at least one or two times a month on Friday nights and am going to start missing shows.

Fox also likely anticipates ratings getting somewhat of a bump due to it being in more homes and now having Fox Sports dedicate part of its advertising towards promoting SmackDown. I think that is a fair bet. It won't balloon overnight but barring the company as a whole going down, their ratings should increase at least a little bit. Plus all that isn't considering the company putting more effort/star power into the show which very well may happen.
