Both sides have their points. If only there could be an understanding between the two.

If she doesn't want to give WWE anything in regards to Owen, I feel she's justified in doing so. Now, as for the kids being kept away from the family? That's a bit rough, but as pointed out, they're adults now. If they wanted to seek out their family, they can.

That's a bit rough, but as pointed out, they're adults now. If they wanted to seek out their family, they can. This is absolutely true. Knowing what the Harts were to Calgary's profile as a whole, and to wrestling in general, Oje and Athena could more than easily reconcile at least with their uncle Bret. Unfortunately, it never helped the Harts' case that Ellie and Diana, to believe Bret on that narrative, were particularly hateful to Martha and had at least as much a hand in causing the breach as did anything on WWE's part. It is quite possible that Oje and Athena have been utterly poisoned against their father's family by their mother, to the extent that they feel as angry towards them as their mother. It's done, at this point, as far as I'm concerned. If the Harts are like my family, they're a very, _very_ hard family into which to marry.

It's kind of buried in the comments, but there's a post by Nattie in there, so good to know that Oje's on good terms with at least some of the family, even if Martha isn't.

As harsh as it sounds, only way Owen gets in is if Martha croaks.
To WWE, once you get rid of the unavoidable variable, you're free to do as you wish. When Chyna was alive, they avoided her like the plague, but once they knew she could no longer compromise their intentions, that's when they began speaking good again.
She wants nothing of wrestling, so they are willing to wait until she dies so they can start honoring Owen and stuff.

A HOF induction is one night. The kids can do it, though likely Bret would with kids accepting. They tell stories. The crowd chants “Thank You Owen” a metric shit ton and it’s over.
Bret didn’t go out the next night after he went in, so if they wanna skip Mania they could.
It’s a pointless stand to keep him out in a mostly pointless HOF that only exists to honour someone for one night for a few minutes, unless you’re Hillbilly Jim, his speech is still going.

It’s a tough situation for all. It would nice to see Owen’s legacy cemented, because as time goes by, there are fewer fans that really remember how awesome he was. However, I can definitely understand Martha’s thinking. Why benefit the company that she blames for taking his life? It sucks all around.
I feel the most for his kids. I lost my dad suddenly when I was 13. I’m 31 now but it’s still on my mind all the time. It leaves a hole that never goes away. You are always wondering how he would react to whatever you’re doing. Losing a parent as a kid fundamentally changes you.

DK is not in the WWE HoF. I don't understand why Bret seems to be angry with WWE about it. If they could induct him, they already would have. This article had it wrong. Bret actually criticized them for inducting the Freebirds and Rock and Roll Express when they had little or no connection to WWE, and overlooked the Bulldogs and Demolition. In Dynamite’s case, he’s someone who has said he doesn’t want to go in, due to issues with Vince. It would honestly take a miracle the level of Bruno’s agreement to get a living induction for him.

My main takeaway from this is that FOX News has an absolutely hideous site design. It's almost like they just didn't bother putting any effort into this particular page. Other news pages (granted, more high profile stories) I clicked on look fine, but this one was done by an amateur. EDIT: Took some finding, but here's a picture of Martha Hart these days... If I was a comic-book writer, my number one goal in life would be to turn this villain into the number 1 super-villain. Like everytime he shows up, the Justice League are screwed.

I'm not entirely sure he's on Vince's "next-in-line" list for inductions, either. DK's induction would bring on questions from the rogues' gallery about Benoit. After all, Benoit was Billington's direct protege(e) and much was made of it in the aftermath of the murder-suicide. Billington's own domestic issues are well-known as well.

As others have said, it's a thing where you can see both sides. Obviously Bret loves his brother and loves wrestling and would like to see that legacy played up. Ultimately, wrestling killed Martha's husband. It's not hard to see why she'd want to be done with it entirely.

Whether they're more willing or not to let WWE honor their father's memory remains to be seen.
Oje also seems like he's got a good head on his shoulders.

I really wish WWE would be given permission by Martha to do more with Owen's wrestling legacy. As I get older the more I see her side of this though. I'm not about to tell a widow she needs to do a damn thing.
No one is in the wrong here really. It's a shit situation and just one of those things.

Her husband plummeted to his death. Leave it alone. Yeah, the wwe was responsible for Owen's death, they booked him to rappel down the rafters, they also used faulty equipment to lower him down, the wwe didn't do their due diligence and because of that it's their fault Owen died. I can see why Martha would hold a grudge with the company, so would I.

Nattie has said almost all the next generation of the Harts get along in some fashion, mainly because of all the turmoil they've been through as a family. Even Teddy. "What can I say about Teddy," she says. "He marches to his own drummer."

I can see where both sides are coming from. I understand Martha not wanting to do business with wrestling, in general, but at the same time, the HOF is a night to honor legends, and fans truly enjoyed Owen. I see where Bret's coming from on this, too. They don't have to put him in video games, or make figures of him, but, while the tribute show was a way for talent to honor him, the HOF is a way for EVERYONE, to honor him. I can't disagree with Martha, though, because I can't imagine the pain she went through.

I don’t know what the answer is.
Nobody is “wrong” here. It is what it is and I don’t see anything changing.
