The majority of the non-monster imagery and the audio really sounded a lot like those strange "optimistic apocalypse" religious type movies my sister is law is always trying to get us to watch.
Which oddly enough might not be far off from what this movie is. Minus the religious stuff, although I'm sure there's a Godzillism Temple somewhere. Probably in Florida.

The "Titans" thing is a bit jarring for me, too. Are they trying to cash in on Attack of the Titans? I hope not, that ship sailed. I know the uber-big Transformers are called Titans now, so maybe they're trying to line up a common word that isn't "monster" without resorting to "kaiju"? It's not something they could copyright or anything, anyway. Are the Titans of myth included in the Wonder Woman film at all?
Fun fact: Fans of the original Godzilla series are probably familiar with the kaiju Titanosaurus. In the original version of the story, he was actually two different monsters called Titans, who would then merge into a larger beast. That got tossed out the window for something more organic and realistic.

I'm guessing it's probably a way to include Kong as a "Titan" since the world kaiju stirs up images of the fantastical monsters amongst casual audiences, as opposed to oversized regular animals (though by my understanding those are also generally considered kaiju). Either that, or they don't want any cross-brand confusion with Pacific Rim, since it looks like a crossover between the two is now dead in the water.

Yeah, I'm guessing it's just so people don't get the idea Pacific Rim is apart of the universe or anything. I kinda like the Titans branding, reminds me of the ancient greek gods. The idea people see them as these mythical, god-like beings makes sense.

A ton of the the classic Greek lore DC (George Perez) kinda took a backseat in that one to the lore the movie 'verse was trying to set up. Anyway, a Godzilla fan pal on Twitter filled me in on what he believes is happening here, and the Titans talk makes much more sense in that respect: {Spoiler}Vera Ferminga's character is basically a mad scientist and she's tricking humanity into waking the monsters up. A lot of her talk is quack fringe lunacy she's trying, and succeeding it seems, to pass off as something serious. The trailer works WAY better for me when I rewatched it knowing that...

It's too early to spoil anything here, but plot details have possibly leaked, and this film sounds crazy in the best way if true.

The Titans thing is weird, but if they make Anguirus one eventually, I'll be okay with it. He's being severely ignored, I always viewed Godzilla, Rodan and Anguirus as a trio when I was a kid.

My child brain had those three as the Super Best Monster Friends with Mothra coming and going depending on their overall alignment with the Earth.

So... humans are killing the planet, so the earth is unleashing monsters to destroy humans and the planet.
And we have to find the "Titans" in order to survive. The same Titans that are going to try to kill us?

Sounds like Godzilla and these “Titans” are like Gamera from that 1990s trilogy.
They will protect the Earth, but the humans better stay the f*** out of the way while they are doing it. Cause Gamera did not give a shit when a large crowded Tokyo city block was destroyed while he was chasing down some Gyaos.

I just really want Baragon and Gigan in a movie like this. Those two were my favorite kaiju as a little kid.

I get that the Eleven kid is the flavor of the month right now, but she is a shit actor even by child standards. I'm not looking forward to watching 2 hours of her making the only two faces she has while I wait for 30 seconds of Kaiju battles.

My story theory is that it will be similar to the 60’s King Ghidorah film.
Rodan will emerge and wreck shit, which brings Godzilla out if the sea to fight him. Meanwhile King Ghidorah will emerge as an even greater World ending threat. The character played by 11 will have a psychic link to Mothra (like the Cosmo twins in the old movies) and at some point she will get Mothra to talk to Godzilla and Rodan to stop figthing each over and the three will team up to take on Ghidorah.
Guessing Rodan and maybe Mothra will die trying to defeat Ghidorah.. Godzilla of course will stand tall at the end. The finale will take place in a major city .. New York, Tokyo, Beijing, London etc.. which will cause a lot of death and destruction. The humans end up thinking hero or not Godzilla is just too dangerous to be lurking in the seas.. so they need to think of a way to stop him. Setting up the Godzilla vs King Kong film.
My theory anyway. I’m always wrong when predicting film plots. .

Plus the fact John C Reilly's character in Kong mentions that Kong wasn't done growing either. Meaning by the time Godzilla vs King Kong happens there'll be a reason he's of equivalent size.

Unsure whether I'll go and see this or not.
The first one was really forgettable. It wasn't bad like 98 Godzilla. It was just boring and forgettable.
Only thing I remember is Bryan Cranston's character... Who was killed after like 20 minutes.
Hope in this one they cut the boring humans and focus on the monsters.
