I also think this piece of news is going to hurt Punk's brand, especially since he will be signing autographs in All In weekend. Or could help him if his fan base believes he can do no wrong and Colt is being greedy The "Punk can do no wrong" stuff has creeped me the hell out for years.

He’s asking for a mill but that don’t mean he gets it. But even then I don’t see how it’s rotten if the person is at fault for this whole shit if that is true. Punk shouldn’t have offered help if he wasn’t going to follow through because I’m pretty sure Colt was smart enough to say when WWE called I’m taking this shit down but that didn’t happen Even if it is true, isn’t in conceivable that once they stop being friends, for what ever reason, someone is going to say ‘f*** this guy’ in which I believe they are both doing. Think of it this way, in your own circle of friends. Someone is moving house, you say they can lend your truck and you’ll help them move. In the time between a and b, you have a falling out that looks like the friendship won’t come back from. You’re not going to help your friend now. Why would you? Then that ex friend takes you on Judge Judy and not only wants you to stand by your word and help him move, but also wants to keep your truck after it’s done. The whole thing is ludicrous. Colt is a carny by nature and if there’s a way to promote himself, that’s what he’s going to do by keeping the podcast up. If he didn’t want to, the podcast is his business and he’s a grown lad and could have done what he wanted. Which is what he did. Na, I ain't buying none of that because this isn't helping a friend move, this is money and reputation and you don't play with either of those friends or not
You are giving Punk way too much of a pass and somewhat absolving him of his role in this
Facts is if Punk wasn't Colt friend and when WWE came calling to shut that down he would have done so in a heartbeat. However, if we believe his friend told him nah keep that up, I got you and pull back then he's a dick plain and simple. Colt biggest mistake was letting Punk talk him into a potential life changing mistake
You keep bringing up the falling out like that's a legit reason to stop in this situation. Punk promised financial security and no f***ing way in hell Colt would let him get away with that. If this deal did go down and Punk promised him that, then he has every right to get what he is owed. Punk brought up how he hoped it won't get ugly so he knew this was an option in his head already.

If someone is mad at Punk, then they have the problem and not Punk

And considering what the lawyers told Colt, it seemed like they thought Punk might throw him under the bus, too.

Just the way he worded it, he knew what was going to go down

See the Rick and Morty sauce fiasco that was supposed to be a nice gesture but turned into entitlement

I'll just say it. Superfans creep me out in general. It was kind of drilled into me from a young age to never put anyone on a pedestal. Pedestals are ok I feel as long as you understand and aren't blinded by it. But there's gotta be levels and logic involved. A Bronx Tale's scene about Mickey Mantle rings true for me, though I still accept and enjoy fandom. Just... gotta keep it in check.

I feel like there's a large amount of missing information here. Undoubtedly. As more comes out, opinions on both are going to sour I feel. Colt relies solely on good will from fans to support his brand, he especially has a lot to lose here. Punk is used to the hate and seems not to care.

I feel like there's a large amount of missing information here. While I agree, Punk reneging on the guy because of sour grapes is still a shitty move.

I truly feel the biggest villain in all this is the legal system and the absurd lawyer fees.

Why not? Worked for Punk in UFC. This is something completely different. The UFC thing was a business decision that Dana made. Punk was a draw and even though he got thoroughly slaughtered, he did what Dana needed him to. And that was sell tickets! Both Events! So why I can see you’re being a little more than snarky with your comment, it made no sense to the topic at hand. But good for you. 🙂 Punk got handed an opportunity on a silver platter that most have to struggle to even come close to working for. He then proceeded to lose both fights so badly that the second soup can spent time toying with him rather than going for the knock out. If that is the result of him 'working for it' for several years straight, I'd hate to see the result of him doing sod all between the fights. Because, let's be honest, he didn't work for it. Dana gave him the opportunity and UFC got a pair of mildly entertaining comedy bouts out of it while hampering any chance of Punk being a long term draw.

I know its got nothing to do with the case, its his own personal life, and usually something I wouldn't call into question, but I was just thinking: its kinda ironic that Punk, a guy that can rival Batista in how many women he's slept with over the years, has issues in trusting people and expects total loyalty to him. Remember people praising him for being a hero goal oriented person when he says he views his time in WWE as a failure fir having never main evented WM? The thing about a person that goal oriented is that the goal is all that matters-it’s about the destination, not the journey. You are either helping them to that goal or you are just spare baggage. And once the goal is attained you suddenly become yesterdays news as a new goal pops up. CC helped Punk attain his goal in the lawsuit-so guess what that means. Brutal post. Ouch.

This is the weird thing. It's SUCH a change of tone, so so quickly. I just...what the hell. I'm seriously thinking Punk's Straight Edge Sociopath thing on his twitter isn't a clever tag and is a way more accurate descriptor than realised. Whether more surfaces that we don't know or not, the dude seems to have some strange, strange wiring. I'm only an armchair psychologist... but Punk seems more Narcissistic than Sociopathic. (especially since Sociopaths are not a thing in psychology anymore) Personally, I think it's a severe clinical level of OCD where, if one thing is slightly off of what he deems perfect, he has to discard it.

In that scenario, one can always get another truck. In this case, Punk told Cabana not to take down the podcast and that he'd cover his legal fees. Falling out or no falling out, that's on Punk. And it's on him for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Stakes are higher. Plus, you have to help your friend because there's legal documentation of it. I know it sucks to hear bad things about your hero, but there's no real two way about this. He broke his word.

Sometimes, the truth is a painful thing. It is, and the post is a good post, but f*** is that a cold brutal ripping off of a bandaid.
