I told you Punk that I’d get my revenge He wasn't representing Amann, so that doesn't even make any sense.

This is some crazy wrestling algebra.
CM Punk x Dr. Amann / Colt Cabana x Z-Pack
Where Z = 256,868

If this board is any indication, the Mega Punk fans are dwindling in vast numbers each year. Just a few years back, this thread would have a ton of "Sure, Punk's an asshole but that's his principled style. He lives his own life, just like me, that's why I'm such a huge fan." Now most of the replies are simply, "No, this dude is a major league asshole." I think it happened when most of his "principles" got exposed as just excuses for his narcissism. Remember people agreeing with him that he deserved main event more than part timers who got top billing just on their name alone, and those part timers pushed out the guys working day to day. Then he immediately parlayed his name to get into comic books with no experience whatsoever and later on the UFC. There is no world were it can be argued CM Punk deserves UFC billing on his credentials more than Rock deserves a PPV slot on his. I think all that definitely played a part for some people but you also have the people that were bitter that he quit. It’s no secret that a lot of people tend to turn on a wrestler or will stop caring about them as much if they’re not on television every week to entertain them. I’ve known plenty of “fans” that wouldn’t give a wrestler the time of day if they weren’t in the WWF or WWE but the minute they showed up there they were interested in them and the minute they left they didn’t care about them. I never really understood that type of thinking but there’s plenty of it out there.

Anyone here going to all in? Can you tape the awkwardness of Punk being near Colt?

Anyone here going to all in? Can you tape the awkwardness of Punk being near Colt? They'll both try to ignore it in a public setting like that where they're there for work and fans I'm sure. The fans riding them about the topic will probably be a thing though. I can see both getting sick of it and snapping at the Nth person who brings it up.

It's "fun" and interesting to discuss on here but no f***ing way would I have the gall to ask them that in person. That's a waste of my time and theirs

The whole thing is f***ed really. Some unorganised thoughts...
- Punk shouldn't have dragged Colt into it.
- Punk said to Cabana over text that he'd cover him 100%, and Cabana never sought any further clarification than that until they'd racked up half a million in legal fees?
- Legally we'll find out, but it seems morally sketchy to me that one text could put you on the hook for an indefinite amount of money.
- Punk has a large amount of fans who believe he can do no wrong, and that actually every shitty thing he does further underlines how cool he is. It's completely unsurprising some of his friends in real life would be the same, especially when they rely on him for relevance.
- I have never seen a single second of a Colt Cabana match, but I'm aware that he worked very hard for the money he has. It sucks that all that is being spent on lawyers when he hasn't done anything wrong.

I remember a LiveJournal entry Punk himself did, back in his ROH days. He was travelling with Allison Danger driving, and get pulled over by a cop for following too closely to the car in front of them. Police officer gets a K9 unit to search the car just in case, and Punk loses it. First, how dare this cop not know that this no-name wrestler is straight edge?! /sarcasm. Then, he refuses to get out of the car for the search. Then, when he does get out of the car, he proceeds to use his size to intimidate the officer. Here's a link to the blog post in question (LANGUAGE WARNING): cmpunk.livejournal.com/11306.htmlJust wow.

This is more of a story how screwed up court system is. No one in hell would need half a mil for a right to defend himself over something that does not involve criminal activity. Basically court system goes like this: whomever has more money wins in reality cause the other side ends up being depleted, even if the other side wins they will still not see the money they've spend on defense unlike in European countries where looser has to pick up the tab for both parties.

I can't see how anyone can take either side when we know very little about the situation. It sucks that both sides look like they are going to waste more money in legal fees. I can only hope they work it out before it goes to court. Sad to see a 15-20 year friendship blow up like this. On the one hand, we obviously don't know enough about the behind-the-scenes stuff to draw a solid conclusion just yet. On the other hand, I've seen and heard waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many stories about Punk being a legitimate asshole to believe that this isn't at least 70-30 Punk's fault. I remember a shoot Raven did about his time in TNA, and about how Punk thought he was the greatest thing ever even back then when empirical evidence showed that he was okay at best. I remember Hornswoggle mentioning that Punk severed all ties with him just for asking for a phone number of a mutual friend. I remember Chris Hero telling a story about how he heard about Punk liking punk (surprise!) and tried to start a conversation about how he had just gone to see the Deftones in concert, and Punk's response was just "The Deftones suck." Not "I'm not really a fan of the band you like", just "that band you like sucks." I remember a LiveJournal entry Punk himself did, back in his ROH days. He was travelling with Allison Danger driving, and get pulled over by a cop for following too closely to the car in front of them. Police officer gets a K9 unit to search the car just in case, and Punk loses it. First, how dare this cop not know that this no-name wrestler is straight edge?! /sarcasm. Here's a link to the blog post in question (LANGUAGE WARNING): cmpunk.livejournal.com/11306.htmlCM Punk is, and has always been, a narcissistic, obnoxious, arrogant douchewaffle, and his super-fans and friends treating him like he's the Second Coming of Jesus himself means he's never had a reason to look at himself and realize that maybe burning every bridge he crosses isn't a good life strategy. I agree that Punk is a narcissistic, obnoxious, arrogant asshole, but that doesn't automatically mean he's at fault for this. There are plenty of examples of Punk not being an asshole as well. - Paid for Joey Mercury's house so he wouldn't lose it - Let Kofi and others ride on his personal bus while in WWE - While teaming with Gallows in SES, Punk routinely took the fall in matches in order to keep Gallows "strong". Feeling he could eat the pin and not lose his heat - In his last match in the Rumble, Punk took it upon himself to try and help get the new guys over by offering to take their "best stuff" upon entering the ring. He asked Rusev (in his main roster debut) what he wanted to do to him when he entered. Rusev didn't really have an answer so Punk told him to give him his best shit. - Went back to ROH in 2006 for Unscripted 2 while in OVW when many ROH stars got snowed in to help the company out None of those negative or positive stories about Punk have any bearing on this instance. Punk could very well be 100% at fault and if he is, should pay Cabana the money he's owed. This could also be Cabana (realizing he lost a ton of money in the trial) trying to get money out of Punk. I'll just wait and let the court decide before I hurt myself jumping to conclusions.

It appears the lawsuit is for Cabana’s costs with his own lawyer after Punk’s lawyer dropped him. I thought it was because Punk didn’t want to pay for Cabana’s half of the total amount. It will have to be proven that Punk’s lawyer had a good reason for dropping Cabana for Cabana to be responsible for his own costs with his own lawyer.

More than putting on a face, I think it comes down to the core of where Punk's stuff comes from; we're used to slimeballs like Hogan who got shitty about wrestling as much as about personal stuff, but I don't think Punk was ever really a mark for his character the same way a Hulk Hogan or even a Bret Hart was. It was all about CM Punk the man instead of CM Punk the character, and even where his professional gripes were--like wanting to even be a losing facet of the Mania main event instead of losing it to Rock months ahead of time because of his desire to main event Wrestlemania--it was always about his place in the company, not about his place relative to other guys. He wanted to be helpful to the people he was working with maybe out of an understanding that it was them versus the office when the office wanted them vs. each other. He was confident in his stardom and willing to take some selfless moves to make other guys look good when he liked them enough, because he got that part of wrestling and understood it's all fake. Real life isn't fake, and I think that's where the more surly and bitter elements of Punk end up really shining through.
