The fact that the Flash tv show ended the same year as the movie coming out might have been a factor too, people were just "Flashed-out". It certainly didn't help anything, alongside people getting sick of Ezra's shit, the fact this was in production hell for what feels like forever, that it came after a changing of the guard, that there was the bad blood over Batgirl, that WBD themselves really have pissed off a lot of fans, etc, like everything combined to form the Captain Planet of a bomb movie.

Flash has been overtaken by Elemental. I'd laugh out loud if Scream VI outgrossed this domestically but it's going to barely squeak through. In your face past-me.
Scream VI:$108,161,389
The Flash: $108,133,124

The Flash may be a contender for GINO.

Comes out on DVD at the end of the month. Going to buy it and maybe Quantumania or Multi-Verse of Madness.

Previous reported production budget was $220 million.
It is quite likely this is the biggest box office bomb, period.

A Twitter user pointed out that George Clooney might have been added in post-production so it doesn't look like the Flash's off-screen Batman is the new DCU Batman.

Goddamn, it's not a great movie and Levi's a dumbass but it's still weird how thoroughly we as a society just collectively agreed to completely ignore Fury of the Gods.

I liked it.... probably not as much as the first one, but I still thought it was fine. Still haven't watched The Flash. It wasn't a bad movie at all, but the story was so generic and uninspired, it was like it was written through some sort of algorithm. Also, and maybe this is more on me and unreasonable expectations then anything else, but the Shazam franchise has so much history to it, so it's frustrating to see them not drawing on any of that to tell their story and insisting the only way they could make their movie work is to create their own villains from scratch, wholecloth. It's like if while Christopher Nolan was making The Dark Knight he said "you know, The Joker just doesn't completely fit this villain I want, so I'm just gonna have Batman fight this guy called 'Lunatic Nick' instead, base him on my brother-in-law". It's just not the same. Or maybe I just really wanted that Monster Society of Evil movie that I've been secretly creating in my own brain for the last decade.

I never read the comics so I wasn't as frustrated. I can definitely understand your frustration if you read the comics.

I don't understand what the villains actually wanted. We need to seize our dad's power to... Uh.... Do kind of the same shit we've been doing the whole movie anyway...?

Outside his (and Black Adam's) appearances in Geoff Johns JSA, I've only just started recently reading random issues of Jerry Ordway's "The Power of Shazam" series from the 90's. That said, even if you just glance over their Wikipedia entries you'll find characters like King Kull, Mister Atom and Angelica Blaze who sound infinitely more interesting then "generic goddesses played by Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu".

Okay, wait, also, what is up with that bit at the end of the movie where Billy's suddenly like, "I'm aging out, aren't you going to throw me out on the street?" after nothing whatsoever in the movie before that even mildly alluded to him being concerned about that?
