Get ready to hate me, but Inception. Cool concept, excellent visuals, and some good sequences, but I was getting bored watching it.

I love Citizen Kane and especially 2001, but can see how someone would find them boring.

Drive was dull as hell, the guy isn't intense, he's taking a nap. This was my second choice, but my God it's dull. My partner's son saw it and gave it a bad rating, but knowing his taste in films I took it with a pinch of salt. It pains me to say it, but he was right. Nothing happened, and the more I waited for something to happen the longer the film seemed to get. Drive? More like drivel... My first choice, however, is Zodiac. I'd heard it pitched as a sort of 'cousin' to Seven, and when I saw that David Fincher was the director it seemed to be a perfect match. Instead of the taut drama and atmosphere of Seven, though, Zodiac just seemed to plod on with no end in sight. I think in the end the film was about two hours and forty minutes, but it seemed longer... On that note, let's mention Battleship Potempkin; I had to watch this as part of a film studies class at university. There's no way that this film is only 75 minutes long...

Elaine summed up my feelings on The English Patient perfectly:
And this was also my reaction to The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Going to get a lot of flack for this one...but 2001: A Space Odyssey. Fantastic cinematography, and a small handful of quotable lines...but dear lord is it a slog to get through. We were playing this film as part of our Flashback Cinema at work of classics on the big screen. People who have seen the film said it literally makes no sense at all. The only Stanley Kubrick films I've seen are The Shining, Full Metal Jacket, and Eyes Wide Shut. I just happened to walk in on Space Odyssey and saw a circle of apes doing whatever, then the next scene was a leopard/cheetah or whatever it was with a zebra. Upon standing there I realized that even the brief seconds I saw it didn't make any sense.

Titanic. It's a visually stunning movie, and from a technical perspective is astounding but f*** me I hate that movie. It's such a slog to get through Not helped by the fact that we're all just waiting for the iceberg to show up.

Apollo 13 is an incredibly crafted and inspiring film. Also the perfect medicine for insomnia.

I fell asleep during Zodiac, and never felt interested enough to go back to it. I don't think I've actually seen a Fincher movie since. Battleship Potemkin is interesting if you are really into early cinema or Soviet history, but if I had to pick one Soviet film to watch I'd go with Man With a Movie Camera. Ebert did a wonderful write up of it here www.rogerebert.com/reviews/great-movie-man-with-a-movie-camera-1929Then, just watch the Odessa Steps sequence from Potemkin. That scene is by far the most influential. Ebert's Potemkin review here. It tells a great little story about watching a special screening of it that really made the film come together for him www.rogerebert.com/reviews/great-movie-the-battleship-potemkin-1925Though it is clearly essential for a world cinema history class.

Shave an hour off that and I'd probably like the movie. There's a lot of good stuff in that movie, and I genuinely want to like it, it's just way longer then it needed to be.

The book is much more clear than the Kubrick movie, which took a more abstract direction especially in the beginning and the end. There is actually a sequel movie that is pretty good! It is more conventional, and stars Roy Scheider. "2010: The Year We Make Contact"

I've always felt like Titanic was modern technology applied to a middling "epic" from the 50s

Lord of the rings. All of them. Never got the appeal. Never will. I kinda feel that. I'd say Return of the King was the most boring and Two Towers was the least of the three.

I watched all 3 extended editions in a marathon at the theater. I just can't get behind the notion of those movies being boring whatsoever.

I think the Harry Potter movies are boring. So boring that I fell asleep during two of them in the theatre. To date those are the only occasions that has ever happened to me.
