Gladiator
Got to see all 20 minutes of it before nodding off. Maybe I was expecting Ben Hur, or maybe even Conan as Ralf Moeller was in it, but got was just slow and unengaging.
Never tried to revisit it.

Deep Impact and Armageddon. I don't know how 2 movies in the same year can both make the end of the world via f***ing comet impact seem boring. I think Deep Impact is a fine enough film when put in the perspective of it really not being about the comet and more about how people's lives change when they know that the world is almost certainly ending. The actual mission to stop the comet and the characters involved are secondary at best. Still doesn't make for a great movie, but it makes me more forgiving of it. To this day I still cannot fathom why Armageddon got a Criterion Collection release, back when such release was still seen as a prestigious honour.

I like a lot of Bond movies, Thunderball being my favorite. But the most acclaimed is From Russia with Love, which I find painfully dull. FRWL 55th anniversary , as far as plots its prolly one of the best

Titanic. It's a visually stunning movie, and from a technical perspective is astounding but f*** me I hate that movie. It's such a slog to get through Not helped by the fact that we're all just waiting for the iceberg to show up. I went swimming there once and bumped into it , brother.....thats why it sank, jack. Next day Metallica called me about joining them. -HH

Fight Club bored me completely.
Tried it twice. First time quit after 20 minutes.
Second time watched to the end but was so bored even the decent twist didn't impress me.

Here's one that may get me some hate on here: Vertigo. Or rather it was dull on a repeat viewing. The first time I saw it I was interested in what was going on. But the 2nd time? It felt like too much of Jimmy Stewart following Kim Novak around and it was nearly sleep inducing. Oblivion with Tom Cruise is another movie that nearly put me to sleep. Completely agree with Vertigo. First time I watched it, as a kid even, I followed along just fine. tried watching it on TV a few weeks ago and Nope. Couldn't do it. Might just be the way the film is paced. Same. I had to study it on two seperate occasions in high school, and couldn't get into it on either occasion. I have wondered if I'd enjoy it more now as an adult, though.

It was much more common for Criterion to release popular movies in their laserdisc days, and they kept dong so through the first few years of switching to DVD. The Rock was also released on Criterion. Plus money.

Barry Lyndon gets some well deserved praise for some of the most effective lighting, costumes, and set work in any motion picture and in within a lot of film communities is being reassessed as an underrated Kubrick classic.
Having re-watched it, its beautiful looking exercise in tedium with un-engaging characters and consistent feeling of waiting for the interesting part of the movie to happen. Pretty to see in HD, not so fun to actually sit down and watch.

I don't get it. At all. It's kind of a small horse, I mean what am I missing? Am I crazy?

I've got 2 not mentioned: 'Juno' and 'Crash' Crash was hackneyed and hamfisted, but I can't call it dull. It had some really tense scenes at least.

Blade Runner, Lost in Translation and Spotlight are my big three for this. I remember falling asleep during Spotlight, was that boring I'd forgot about having seen any of it until I saw you mention it
