Yep, lashing out at OAPs was definitely the way to go on this.

Why the f*** were there no mats around the ring? ...I don't think I've ever been to an indie show with mats... IWA-MS had tarp...

The stupidity of this aside, these guys have to pay for their own insurance, right? 6 days in the hospital if you didn't have any insurance would be like 1/4 Brock's yearly salary.

The sound of the impact was sickening.
I don't know how anyone can do that, go to hospital, recover from the injuries that he has (and have those that he can't recover from, didn't the article say he has permanent hearing loss?), AND THEN go "well, let's try that again!"
He shouldn't be let in a ring again, for his own safety. I hope no reputable promotion ever books him.

Sabu has a new challenger to his botch crown. Well, on the one hand he's saying he learned his lesson, and on the other, he's saying this about the Cornettes, Lance Storms, Disco Infernos, etc. who are - rightly - pointing out that doing this kind of stunt is too much risk for little to no reward. Some of the vets in question (Disco and Cornette for sure, I didn't see Storm's comment) basically mocked/insulted him, or him and his trainer (in Disco's case), or an entire generation of wrestlers, rather than showing any concern for the health of their fellow wrestler who suffered an injury. In what's supposed to be a brotherhood of workers, their comments were just made for the sake of insulting the guy. The way Matt Jackson responded to him was at least respectful. This is definitely a case of the vets being uncaring attention seekers, at this injured guy's expense. What little respect I have left for Cornette is dwindling by the day with his comments on stuff like this. Especially when he did similar stupid things earlier in his career, like falling off of a scaffold and blowing out his knees and ending up in the hospital. Accidents happen. It's a risky business. The boys are supposed to care for one another, not throw insults.

Any aerial move where you lose visual contact with your landing target is dangerous. Adding a table and the concrete floor to that equation is a stupid risk that deserves to be mocked out of the business. As for Cornette blowing out his knees, that was orders of magnitude less risky than what this guy did, and Cornette wasn't exactly in favour of taking that risk in the first place, it was Dusty who talked him into it. What this guy did, and countless other indie guys do, is usually their own ideas.

I'm really glad this dude's okay and ain't dead, cause yikes but also like
How the f*** did anyone expect that to go well? Like, there's literally no possible outcome where he doesn't smack his head on the floor unless the table is moved up so far that he smacks his face on that instead.

I'm semi-familiar with Phoenix's work. His normal stuff looks like this:
The spot was incredibly stupid and should never be attempted again. No argument there. But at the same time, he's not a reckless botch machine/"yinzer Sabu" either. (That would be Facade.)

In that case, AJ Styles "deserves to be mocked out of the business," because he took the did the exact same risk, doing the same spot.

The boys are supposed to care for one another, not throw insults. To be fair, Cornette did that at Starrcade, an event that is still talked about and played on the WWE network, and was probably paid handsomely. Plus it was a far less risky bump than what happened here, it just ended in an unfortunate injury. I hope this guy is ok but these old timers are right, it's a stupid risk to take in that situation. It's not going to get him noticed by WWE and the risk of injury compared to the money he was probably making for the show just doesn't work out in his favor.

The irony is that this guy I've never heard of is desperately trying to provoke reactions from said "grumpy" and irrelevant "dudes" so he can be talked about on their podcast. Why do people double down on their stupid actions?
