Eh. It’s not my life. If he wants to do another 450 through a table, that’s his choice. At this point it’s silly arguing with him or calling him a spot monkey or whatever... anyone who attempts this stunt has balls IMO. Balls don’t pay hospital bills or fix brain damage. If the kid doesn’t makes it to a higher level then all of this was for nothing. At least when Cornette f***ed up his knees permanently he made money, at least Shibata has something to show up for after the head injury. This kid unfortunately may be forgotten about and it was all for nothing.

This stuff can happen regardless.

Just heard him on observer radio talk about how it was a mistake and he wants other wrestlers to learn from it. Apparently he lost his hearing in his left ear

Dynamite Kid went from bouncing off the ropes to permanently paralysed in seconds. Wrestling is risky enough as it is. This shit is f***ing stupid.

Bryan’s injury was due to a stiff punch gone wrong, this yahoo thought that jumping onto the floor with no mats was a good idea.

Yes routine spots can lead to horrible injuries, but that's not because they're of equal risk, it's because basic moves are things that happen often several times in a match, and often every match. Wrestling period is dangerous, but there are still moves that carry significantly more danger and more potential for problems, or where the move is harder for both wrestlers to make safe, or even moves where there is no way to make it safe and you're rolling the dice every time. No amount of people getting concussed from a loose punch will change that.

Especially when there's a difference between when it happens in WWE, where Vince (for all his faults) will take care of your surgery if you get hurt in his ring, and on the indies, where they can't even be bothered to lay mats on the floor.

There was a piranha match... fish tank in middle of ring, wrestlers were already bleeding when one was thrown in. (Big Japan Pro Wrestling, Kendo Nagasaki vs. Mitsuharu Matsunaga, I think in '95) There also was a Piranha Match on the last episode of XPW but according to the commentary, the fish in the tank were non-bloodthirsty carp.

Most of the wrestlers tsk-tsking the guy have a chance to use their voices to try to undo some of the structural issues in wrestling that wreck people's bodies, but they don't. Cornette could give half a shit about wrestlers getting addicted to painkillers because of a grueling travel schedule and no ability to take any recovery time, so excuse me if I don't listen to him about this stuff.
(dude's still a dumbass tho)
