Insults or not, the guys like Cornette are still right. In a risky business you shouldn't get rewarded for taking more insane risks. Any aerial move where you lose visual contact with your landing target is dangerous. Adding a table and the concrete floor to that equation is a stupid risk that deserves to be mocked out of the business. In that case, AJ Styles "deserves to be mocked out of the business," because he took the did the exact same risk, doing the same spot. Yup, now you're getting it. A moronic spot doesn't become less moronic because a big star does it.

If you can't get over without doing something this dumb, then you shouldn't be wrestling.
Hope the guy recovers and never does anything this stupid again.

He sounds like a moron, but I wouldn't be suprised if there's peer pressure in some of these indies.

Some of the vets in question (Disco and Cornette for sure, I didn't see Storm's comment) basically mocked/insulted him, or him and his trainer (in Disco's case), or an entire generation of wrestlers, rather than showing any concern for the health of their fellow wrestler who suffered an injury. In what's supposed to be a brotherhood of workers, their comments were just made for the sake of insulting the guy. The way Matt Jackson responded to him was at least respectful. This is definitely a case of the vets being uncaring attention seekers, at this injured guy's expense. What little respect I have left for Cornette is dwindling by the day with his comments on stuff like this. Especially when he did similar stupid things earlier in his career, like falling off of a scaffold and blowing out his knees and ending up in the hospital. Accidents happen. It's a risky business. The boys are supposed to care for one another, not throw insults. To be fair, Cornette did that at Starrcade, an event that is still talked about and played on the WWE network, and was probably paid handsomely. Plus it was a far less risky bump than what happened here, it just ended in an unfortunate injury. I hope this guy is ok but these old timers are right, it's a stupid risk to take in that situation. It's not going to get him noticed by WWE and the risk of injury compared to the money he was probably making for the show just doesn't work out in his favor. I don't agree that "stupid risks are OK as long as it's a big show or you're being paid a lot of money." A risk is a risk, no matter what event the match appears on. And both Cornette's injury and this guy's injury were equally unfortunate. I agree with the old timers in that it's a stupid risk to take. He shouldn't have done it. The guy has said as much on social media, saying it was a mistake. Accidents and injuries have always happened, and always will. What I don't agree with is the old timers calling him a mark or saying that his trainer is inferior, or that modern wrestling is somehow to blame. That's just being a callous jerk to their injured fellow worker, kicking him while he's down, and an insult to everyone in the current generation.

He shouldn't have done it. The guy has said as much on social media, saying it was a mistake. No, he didn't. He said it was a mistake in that he f'ed up while trying to do it, not that it was a mistake to try it in the first place.

The crazy thing is that this is likely the biggest buzz that he’ll ever get in his career and it’s because he did something stupid and suffered permanent physical damage. Wrestlers be dumb, yo.

I hope that 5 minutes of internet notoriety were worth the huge medical bill, nearly killing yourself and killing any shot you have of making wrestling your career.
Thus stupidity needs to end.

Choose your spots wisely. That type of risk for what? 50$? Maybe a hundred or two? How was that ever gonna work? Just poor decision making there. There's no difference in the pop between a 450 in the ring and out of the ring, but there is a difference in which is more likely to lead to a cracked skull.

I used to 'know' this guy from another forum. He always seemed okay.
I feel bad for the fact that he f***ed himself up.. but it really seems like he's not learning his lesson.

Actually if you want to "blame" a generation of wrestling they should be blaming the generation between Cornette and the current generation. The Attitude Era guys upped the danger bar so high that the 80's style doesn't really work anymore and guys can't actually be any more risky because they'll literally die.

...I’m happy he’s not permanently injured but this is bullshit. Cornette and others are right to point out how this should’ve never happened and the guy is proud of almost killing himself? Also relevance? Storm and Cornette make way more money and are more popular than this outlaw mudshow.

...I’m happy he’s not permanently injured but this is bullshit. He's now permanently deaf in one ear because of this. I'd call that an injury, and certainly not worth whatever payoff he got for that show.
