To win you over?
AEW being the alternative is something that seems to come up alot and to me is going to be the driving force for its success.
But what I never see elaborated on is ..how much of an alternative does it have to be and that is the question I pose.
Is simply being a better WWE that much of an alternative? is that an alternative at all?
I myself understand all the hype a 2nd giant money player in the land since WCW...but also sit on the fence confused when I see so much talk about how this is going to be the alternative everyone has been waiting for but for all the hype I don't see this alternative yet.
I have a bad tendency to have difficulty being clear and precise in things I say but hopefully what I am asking is somewhat understandable.

Not at all. It just needs to be good. If I can get a WCW more sports feel? Cool, that's a bonus. But it's not needed for me to support.

There definitely need to figure out a different style of presentation from WWE, which is so absurdly homogenized that it's depressing. THAT'S my big "want" from AEW right now. I trust them in terms of talent and knowing what to do with it, what I want is a show that feels different in how it's presented, as opposed to what WWE does, which has become so damn bland.

I'm a Cody mark. I'm a Pentagon mark. I dig PAC, and a lot of the others.
I am going to be there, regardless, but certainly, unique's never a bad thing.

It just needs to be different. Look and feel different from not just WWE, but from Impact, and LU, and ROH as well. That's why I'm personally not very happy with the rumors of them going after guys like Orton or the Usos. They are fitting a good niche right now and they need to stick with it.

I honestly don’t know until I see their tv shows. I’m still very “meh” about it. I know I’ll definitely be in the minority, but I like a company with exclusive talent. Being able to see the majority of their roster elsewhere just doesn’t feel that special to me.

I don't know the secret formula, I just know Raw and Smackdown haven't had it in many years. All I want from AEW is to put on compelling programming that doesn't punish me for paying attention. Storytelling, continuity, actual characters. Focusing on those three things would help a lot, cause I already know they can handle the in-ring aspect.

Big things will be: show length, no scripting matches or promos, match variety, and not overkilling with the same matches time and again.

I think scripting is okay in doses, the problem comes more with it being super obvious a guy has no input or freedom of wiggle room. Guess it depends on the talent. Some people thrive with a blank check, while others need a bit more structure than, "You're mad at Cruel Carlos. You're calling him out to give him what-for."

With the roster they built, they are inherently going to be pretty different.I mean just with the OWE guys you are going to be seeing some radically different stuff

An official drinking game where you take a drink every time the word "superkick" is mentioned would be nice.

Another thing I forgot to mention for Cody (and to an extent the Bucks) in particular: he needs to avoid falling into the trap his father did and not book himself in the main event month after month, year after year. It’s fine if he gets the title from time to time, he can’t be the only one, though.
Pay per views need to be special. TV needs to build to it, and make it a match We haven’t seen. If they have an occasional SNME-type show, that could be great too. It has to mean the fans know something major will happen, like a title change or a face or heel turn.
Also, TV’s should be used to get wrestlers over with squashing local enhancement wrestlers, and saving the big matches for PPV and spotlight shows. In short, I want it booked like the WWF in the late 80’s and early 90’s.

It needs to be different since WWE is so smart that you need to hav a high IQ for it.
So as an intellectual from Raw and Smackdown , I will clearly need more complicated storylines and more capable wrestlers just like every Monday on Raw! (Longest running show) .
I am just kidding they could literally spit in my face for 15 years. It would be less time then WWE did.

Everything WWE isnt, just have good quality matchs each week but the big matches for the big events, let the roster have freedom with their promos and no stupid skits or segements wwe put on.

Different enough to convince the Khans that this isn't just the next generation of carnys working money marks once the initial shine of their new toy has worn off.

Remember when Okada came out with a dinosaur and a giant sword?
That's what AEW should be like.

I just need it to have a more "free" and natural feeling to it when compared to WWE

Id like (if and when they get it) there tv show to look different maybe film it with the entrance on the hard cam, maybe light it differently, just something so it doesnt look too "Kevin Dunny"
Id also like them to keep there focus on wrestlers. We dont need more ex american footballers/atheles, models, dancers or ex tv stars from somewhere else that are just starting out. Just stick to wrestlers and keep it low-key celeb involvement wise.
