Back from the show, and I’d be more negative about ROH’s contributions, but I don’t watch it currently anyway. They can do whatever they want - I’m not watching a show that isn’t co-presented by New Japan.
Cobb is fine, and I’m happy to see him as NEVER champ. Hopefully this means he will be in the G1. Bandido will be awesome in Best of the Super Juniors. Couldn’t care less about anyone else on their roster.

How did ROH think what they did on any level was a good idea? I didn't expect to like any of the ROH matches but somehow all of them were much worse. The roster moves make even less sense and honestly signing Enzo means a ton of people are going to straight up never watch ROH again and that includes me.

You know, I don’t mind the idea of them debuting new talent on this show. Just make it...you know talent that people want to see. ROH usually shoots themselves in the foot in these situations, this time they dropped a nuclear bomb on themselves

When WWE puts on a really flat nothing of a major show I'm at a point where I just accept it and feel like with the money and history they have, the kind of anger you can get at them coasting off of the past can only get so fierce. ROH with a monumental show at f***ing MSG is a completely different situation for me; they took a huge opportunity and turned it into a wet fart. They never achieved the kinds of heights where you can get away with coasting but that's somehow what ROH right now feels like. They brought so little to this show and ended up looking like fools standing beside an actual world class promotion, and it's not even really an issue of roster depth; they have a ton of talent, the booking just does so little with it, these guys are standing around hoping New Japan pulls them over to book them. But then in other places they super don't have it; Enzo and Cass is a horrible signing and if they're bringing them in a la The Outsiders then even f***ing sadder. Women of Honor is a joke and it doesn't need to be, but it's pretty clear what the intention behind it is and it's honestly just kind of worse than not having any women on the card at all.
I've fallen off on ROH over the past few years and was hoping tonight could pull me back in to more regular viewing and an ability to care. It failed miserably at that. 2019 Ring of Honor is a shell of its former self living off of name recognition and it feels like the whole rest of the indie scene is advancing and moving on in a way where only the memories of what was and an association with New Japan keep it from choking on everyone else's dust.

Seems as if the idea of leading wrestling's underground charge has passed them by.

I’m just struggling to wrap my head around ROH, the company that’s been the standard in America for years in terms of pure wrestling, signing the f***ing Beautiful People and Enzo and Cass. And that’s not even getting into putting the strap on Matt Taven, who is fine but not a guy I would ever consider a top champion. New Japan has to be second guessing themselves. "Just in case, do we still have TNA's phone number? ...I said just in case!"

Wasn’t the speculation earlier this year that NJPW would keep an eye on AEW considering the loyalty they had for ROH after helping them establish a relationship to help towards the MSG show?
Because I don’t hate some stuff as much as others but a lot of stuff...man, I don’t understand the mindset in ROH anymore. I don’t want them to not exist because that’s another platform wrestlers don’t have to perform on but it’s also a case of NJPW binding their time until something substantial comes from AEW or they can start their own stuff.
And that’s not before an ROH world title match later this month with a Jewish guy having no problems insulting the company that owns ROH and things might get worse for them before better.

Someone on Reddit said it best, ROH coast on the fact that at one point they had all your favorites that are currently in WWE. Delirious continues to run it into the ground with horrible booking. You thought Gabe was bad at pulling the trigger? Delirious will show you otherwise. And people continue to wonder why just about everyone except his buddies are abandoning ship.

Ring of Honor is the National Lampoon of wrestling.

Agree with everything said so far. Jeff Cobb looked great in the opener, Bandido shone in the junior title match, and even though I had zero interest in the ladder match going in, they did win me over to an extent.
Everything else from an ROH standpoint though...yikes.
-The production was appalling, from the camera work to how they mic'd the crowd. -The rumble was a mess, and as I said in the live thread the ROH guys looked completely bush league next to the New Japan guys. -Nobody, either in MSG or in the live thread, cared about the Women's match. Not really the fault of the wrestlers, who tried hard, but it still came across bad. And then the Beautiful People happened. Yeah. -The segment with that rapper guy and Bully Ray was absolute death. It was supposed to get heat on Bully and ended up with him getting cheered. It was embarrassing. -The six man was a professional wrestling match that happened. -Okay, the tag title match wasn't bad, and PCO got over well. But holy hell, the angle after it. Enzo and Cass? Really? What planet are ROH living on if they think bringing those two goofballs in is a good idea? And apparently they gave New Japan no heads up they were doing it, which torpedoed their own angle with Yano and the tag belts. Do you really want to piss off your parteners like that, ROH? You know, the real reason why MSG was sold out? -The ladder match did win me over, but why put the title on Taven when Marty is so crazy over? Send your fans home happy.
You compare all that stuff to New Japan's output on the show- the wild three way, a solid Tanahashi/ZSJ match, the outstanding Naito/Ibushi match, and the great main event that gave the live crowd exactly what it wanted to see- and it just shows how much of a gulf in class there is between the two companies. Make no mistake about it- Ring Of Honor may have gotten them the foot in the door, but it was New Japan Pro Wrestling who drew a sold put crowd to Madison Square Garden. You have to wonder how much use New Japan sees left in this working relationship.

.....so Roh is tna now?
Hiring enzo is like exactly what Dixie would do. I'm guessing when the company finally became Impact, the living curse that was tna needed somewhere to inhabit.

After reading all this, it sounds like ROH put on one hell of a shitshow.
I have to wonder if this company's even going to still be around by this time next year?

My fiancée isn’t a wrestling fan, but she accompanied me to the show last night. She knows the New Japan talent for the most part, but only knew Scurll and Cobb from ROH. As a “casual” viewer, even she noted the gulf of talent and reactions all night between the promotions.
The women’s match and Allüre angle were embarrassing to her, as was the Enzo/Cass stuff. So as someone who would honestly watch more if ROH showed up last night, they kind of “lost” a potential new fan. The same can be said for the couple that sat next to us from Kentucky.

Sinclair Broadcasting owns them, and they not only have the most local TV stations in the United States, but they just secured a deal to be the broadcast partner for the Chicago Cubs by creating a cable network. They're secure, and it's that security that's going to allow for bullshit like this to happen.

I tuned out once the beautiful people showed. Even the announce team sounded like they were on circa 2007 episode of Impact.

You know what the discussion should be about, the fact that the IWGP world championship changed hands outside of Japan for the first time ever. Or a potential MOTY candidate in Ibushi/Naito. Instead its about ROH and how poorly they did. NJPW should be fuming

I gotta say ROH hasn’t felt like the standard bearer of anything in awhile they stole the WWE lite Torch from TNA as soon as the clone wars ended and it’s been downhill since they’re just lame this show was lame and Taven is they’re Jinder sans anything entertaining
