Hey, let's check-in with Tama and see what he thinks of ROH... *language warning* Tama's definitely not always my cup of tea, but I mean, he has a point. In kayfabe, if the tag belts are such a priority, then why are their priorities so screwed up to where they didn't give their all?

So NJPW was looking to hire ROH as personal jobbers right?

Yeah, even if I didn't feel all the ROH stuff came off quite as bad live as it seemed to on TV, if the other wrestlers weren't made aware of what was going on with Enzo and Cass then that's just utter bullshit, you flat-out don't do that.

They cut away and showed nothing To be fair, that aspect was part of the work; we could see that on some of the TV screens at the Garden, and it seemed like they were doing the typical sports thing of "don't put the camera on people who run onto the field of play" to make it seem more legitimate, and it had people in the crowd asking if it was real. But if they're doing that and a bunch of the wrestlers don't know what's going on, that's just unprofessional and potentially dangerous, plus it downplayed and hurt the moment of GoD pulling off what should be seen as a big win and their upcoming angle with Yano.

If I'm Tama, why would i even want to go back to ROH to defend or even drop those titles? They ruined where the spotlight should have been and the intended post-match angle to run their own baffling worked shoot crowd shit to no point or effect.

It's really depressing to go back and look at how optimistic people were about this and how much good will and momentum ROH had when they announced this show. People were hot for this. It had the potential to be ROH's All In. It felt like it could be a game changer and could've been a great show.
Instead it's one of the biggest shames of the company's existence.

I wouldn't go quite that far. I think their problem is that this SHOULD have been a Big Four-style PPV for them, and brought their A game for it. Instead of Summerslam, though, they showed up with an In Your House while NJPW put in a real effort.

Regardless of everything else, due to the relevancy of that venue in wrestling to even this day and the significance of that venue to wrestling history, you get the chance to run it you go out there and you swing for the fences. Instead it felt like they barely bothered to even swing. It may not have been one of their worst shows ever in terms of content. But it's definitely one of the worst in terms of what it could've been to them and how badly they bungled this.

Really bad production values have plagued them for like, most if not all of their existence. It's not good enough to not be Triplemania levels of incompetent, it's worth spending some money on, so I don't get how it has always been such a low priority for them. The most insulting part of ROH being consistently shit at live production is Sinclair owns like half of the news channels in America. Spoiler Alert: That actually translates to those stations as well. Trust me on this.

Yeah, they cut away from the angle, but in a way that made it patently obvious that they were cutting away from something, and then settled on a camera shot of announcers with Enzo's bright ass hair and all of Cass's seven feet blatantly in the background. And then commentary even made mention of the fact that there were people that they weren't showing on camera.

Right, and what made it stick out worse is that since NJPW did go all-out and use this as a "Big Four" style show, it made the ROH stuff stick out like a sore thumb and I'm sure hurt the card's cohesion for people watching at home since it created a style and tone clash. Even if it's a joint show, you still have to book it to be a consistent show for the people watching.

I'm glad you and others seeing it in-person had a good time of it, from what I've read on here, but yeah, it sometimes came across like someone flipping channels, going from one promotion to the other. I get that ROH wanted to try to throw out plot developments and hooks, knowing that many people watching wouldn't be the people who watch the TV product all the time, etc, but I feel like they overdid it. If nothing else, though, they should have been more coordinated. There's no reason Enzo's bit should have happened at the same time as the Yano bit. That just reeks of miscommunication between ROH and NJPW.
