Half of the people are still missing the point that it wasn't about the shorts but about how he was treated and how they didn't say anything until last second. And I think Cole really meant well, some people when they are in panic or rush dont know how to contain thenselves

Yeh I completely agree its a silly and stupid response but many(not saying here, just overall online)just focus on "He didnt want to wear pants,so he was gonna quit".Which fair enough is a much more amusing story In a side note I dont think i ever heard the guy,my only exposure to him is the mentioned shorts while he stretchs his leg on the desk.So him quitting is really indifferent to me.

Shortsgate happening less than an hour away from the biggest professional wrestling event of the year is too funny.

You get changed shortly before the show starts

That's entirely too much bullshit to deal with for something so inconsequential I'm sure that's exactly what they said about having to deal with Pat MacAfee on the biggest day of the year. Seriously, if jorts are the hill you choose to die on you're a total dipshit.

I don't think it was about the dress code as much as it was the way they handled the situation. "Hey, I know I said no 'jorts,' but what I meant was no shorts. Sorry for the confusion." Plus, it wasn't jorts. It was ...torts? Lol. It's a dick thing for him to split hairs on. "Uhhhh....you said no jorts, you never said anything about other kinds of shorts" I may be biased though because I took an instant disliking to the guy because he oozes douche

"Uhhhh....you said no jorts, you never said anything about other kinds of shorts" I may be biased though because I took an instant disliking to the guy because he oozes douche Again, it's not about the dress code; he almost quit because of the way he was treated. There was no reason to react the way that Cole did when a simple request would have sufficed. This thread sorta shows that people will look the other way about WWE's shitty behavior toward their talent when that behavior is directed toward talent that the board doesn't care for. I don't know the dude besides seeing him on the pre-show, so I don't like or dislike him; however, I can't fault the guy for standing up for himself when he was treated like crap. I honestly had no idea whether or not the board liked or disliked the guy. The first time I even saw him was the preshow this Sunday. And honestly, I think the story sort of solidifies my initial take on him. It's not that much to ask that you dress nicely on the most important day of the year. His initial reaction was to be a smartass about it and then pitch a fit when he was called out on it. Indeed it was minutes before they were going to air (again on the most important weekend of the year), people don't have time to be dealing with your shit this weekend.

Yeah he's a douchebag and I don't like a lot of what he does, how he acts (and even how he looked there) but in this case he's in the right. Cole said no "jorts" which means no "jean shorts", that's specific otherwise he would have said "shorts." He was there for hours dressed up and yet no one said anything to him including Vince who was near the guy. Cole then yelled at the guy in front of all these celebrities, the McMahons and everyone else there. Afterwards Cole apologized to him showing that Cole was in the wrong rather than Pat.
This feels like it was a miscommunication issue and instead of Cole saying "my bad man I also meant no (insert everything else)" he went off on him. I don't even think the guy was trying to be an asshole by wearing tuxedo shorts or anything like that, he just thought it fit the situation given it's been done by others.
Pat's probably not going to be around long and I get why people would be upset that he thinks he's great and all that but I don't see why anyone would put the blame on him in this situation after all he said. When you've been there for hours and no one says something, when you weren't told what to specifically not wear and all that, that's just not on him. He's done some annoying stuff but this out of all the things he's done's probably the one thing that's not on him.

They also probably didn't bar fishnet stockings and suspenders. Missed a trick there, Mr Antivirus, you would have been the talk of the wrestling world.

It's best to be as specific as possible. But then proper communication between management and everyone else seems to be a consistent problem for WWE as a whole.

Getting fired or quitting because of wearing shorts would have been up there with Cas getting released for beating up a little person as the weirdest way to lose a job. what about quitting after 2 matches because you didn't want to cut your hair... and then cutting your hair a few weeks later anyway.
